I've stumbled across a few rye IPAs in the last year or so and have immensely enjoyed all of them. There is something about the spicy rye malt interacting with strong American hops that really does it for me right now.

I have been drinking and enjoying SN's Ruthless Rye, Founders' Red Rye, Revolution's TV Party, Great Lakes' Rye of the Tiger, Green Flash's Road Warrior and am currently drinking Smuttynose's Rhye IPA. All amazing beers that I could drink regularly. Does anyone have any other recommendations of the style to keep my eye out for?

Are you talking standard IPAs only? I'm a big fan of rye (non-India) pale ales, like Bells Smitten. There is a local brewpub here that makes an awesome mesquite smoked rye. What about black rye IPAs (cascadian rye ales?) - Wookey Jack is pretty tasty. The only standard rye IPA I've ever had is Ruthless, and I really did not enjoy it at all. The combination of the rye spiciness and the hop bitterness was just an unwelcome assault that really turned me off to the style.

I find my hometown brewery's Rustic Rye to be quite good. And Bootlegger's pumps it out all year,

Two Brothers Cane & Ebel.. it's an "Imperial Red", not an IPA.. but it focuses on the rye and hops.. it would definitely be up your alley.. also look for He'Brew Bittersweet Lenny's RIPA and Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye..

Real Ale's Full Moon Rye IPA is one I enjoy, however it is only distributed in Texas. One to give a try if you get a chance.

OP: I love the same combination of spice and bitterness.

However, I cannot offer any further suggestions as you already listed all of my favorites of this style

Not really an IPA but Two Brothers has one that is tasty. Also, have a Belgian Rye IPA from Four Winds to get to.

You'd have to trade for it since they don't distro out of the city, but Reuben's KILLS the rye game IMO.

That's what I'm looking for more of because I really find that the rye spice in the malt adds an awesome extra dimension to really hoppy American IPAs that pale and crystal malts don't, but I am certainly a fan of dark beers with rye too. Founders' Black Rye is great.

I´ve never had any rye beer, that´s extremely rare in Mexico, but now I have a Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye Ipa in the fridge for the right moment :grinning:

Southern Tier 2XRye is either a rye IPA or as rye DIPA as I would define it. Otter Creek's Kind Rye'd is perhaps closer to a rye APA but still very good. Smuttynose Rhye IPA gets my vote as the best of the style out of the six or seven I've had to date.
