    Cigar City Brewing
Hello there boys and "ghouls!" As you may know, tomorrow is Friday the 13th, a very special day indeed! Cigar City "Boo"ery will celebrate by tapping a very special keg! Right when the clock strikes 13:13 (or 1:13pm as it's more commonly known), we will start serving The Ghost of Hunahpu! This "witch's brew" has been aged for several months in Apple Brandy barrels before being moved on top of.....GHOST CHILI PEPPERS! Oh yes this is quite the spicy little treat indeed! Can you handle the "creeping" heat in your throat? We'll be selling snifters, but we will also sell sample sizes for anyone who is (understandably!) "spooked" by this beer! Can you handle the wrath of the ghost? One keg and it's gone! Muahahahahahnogrowlershahaha!

The biggest problem with these one-offs is that if you like it, all you will have is your memory of it.

This recent Ghost Pepper fad, is quite possibly the worst craft beer fad that I've witnessed in my 4+ years of being on BA.

It only took me 1 sip of GFK to completely agree with you.

Yeah I can't handle the heat but some people really like the spicy brews.
I'm usually willing to try any beer once but after not being able to handle Billie's Chillis I'm scared of these ghost pepper brews.

at least it works in this beer. not so much for many of the other ones which are done completely for the heat

Stouts and heat go great together (Abstrakt:4), with other styles...not so much. Ghost face Killah isnt bad when paired with the right thing. Ghost Scorpion on the other hand...that was just plain evil. I shared my bottle with 5 others, and I was the only one who could finish his and feel fine after, the other 5 had one or two sips and nearly got sick.

Its all about the pepper. Having grown up around chili's and being someone who uses Ghosts and red savinas on a semi regular basis I actually enjoy that light sweet fruity/meaty pepper characteristic that even ghosts have before they whallop you. That in a stout, winning combination. The malts and pepper can go hand in hand quite nicely. But yah, with a beer when there is nothing for the pepper to play off of (GFK, Ghost Scorpion) it can be a real struggle.

If they get the maltiness right and didn't overdo it with the ghost chilis, this could be amazing.
