I just wanted to toss up a fun discussion question to see what other people thought.

Have you ever encountered a Brewery that made amazing beers, but put one out that was across the board terrible?

Obviously beer taste is relative, but usually we can find certain beers that most people across the board can say is great or not great. What's an example of a great brewery that made a beer that just failed in all sorts of the measure? keep it light-hearted. not looking to degrade any breweries, just see if others had any examples of them missing the mark!

Most breweries put out a couple beers that have me scratching
my head. For amazing breweries though, Bruery's Salt of the Earth was pretty terrible I thought. I like gose, but that was just putrid. Also Deschutes Green Monster was pretty bad. Granted, that was a beer that accidentally got infected and they then tried to make it into a sour... but it just didn't work!

Last week I had a drain pour from one of my favorite breweries. I don't know if the bottle was screwed up or if the brewer had an off day.

Brouwerij Het Anker, the brewery that makes Gouden Carolus, also produces the Boscoli "special for mexican market" it´s just horrible, on sip and then drain pour.

Transatlantique Kriek Ale by New Belgium.

Worst beer I have had in a long time.

Tastes like someone poured a can of the cheapest cherry soda you can think of into an extremely light ale.

Well, sure, but it's always gonna be a matter of opinion - what is a fail for me may still be a win for someone else. I can think of more examples of beers I really loved that got generally panned on the site than the other way around. In other words, I've got no such example.

...Guess that makes this a posting "fail" :flushed::slight_frown: lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Title should be changed to reflect the sheer number of Bruery fails that will be mentioned.

Pretty much every brewery has a few misses; there are only a few that I can think of that don't have at least one stinker.

Three Floyds entire sour program (except maybe Bertrand, but I didn't have that one) is pretty terrible.

Bells Venus was awful, and I really don't think they hit what they were going for. It was so artificial-tasting.

Founders Rubaeus is a sweet, medicinal mess.

Let's not forget these are opinions.

    Pizza Beer?

As far as actual craft beer there's ones I like and ones I like less or don't care for, but most aren't physically bad tasting. They still beat many beers out there, they aren't poorly made, just not to my taste.

To make it worse, it was the first.CC beer I tried.
Luckily the rest of their lineup is better.

No Label Mint IPA. Went out her last November with the family for my B-Day and talked the guy into pouring me one (it was off to the side, not selling it that day). Novel at first, everyone tried it, I finished it. I really can only think of one time I poured out a beer. It was like drinking a mild IPA while chewing Juicy Fruit. Hey I am all for experimenting, sometimes it fails sometimes it works.

My girl bought a sixer a while back because we both wanted to try it. We both drain poured ours and gave the other 4 away. I really wanted to like it, but it's just not for me.

I like the Cucumber Saison so there! Bell's Cherry stout... meh. My contribution will be pretty much every Midnight Sun beer since Gabe left

I haven't tried that one but it had peaked my interest! I'll have to try it to see what it's like!

Respectfully disagree (in my opinion) with "across the board" terrible for that high a percentage-will agree a decent portion of their beers are "polarizing" within the community. However-my girlfriend and I feel their Red and Black is an offense to civilization.

    That's still a .666 batting average. Cheers, Sam C.
