I went back and gave a brief review of each, they were quite good - the CBS was phenomenal. Thanks for asking, sorry for my misunderstanding on how this thread works. Cheers!

I started a thread last year, listing my ten favorite beer bars - Trappeze made the list. You have to stop in, the vibe alone is worth dropping by - amazing drafts and very good food too. It's a must do!

New Berliner Weisse (and more) Sunday

    Hey NBSers,

Just returned from an Easter bottle share where I got to try several new-to-me beers, and a bonus beer I'm drinking now as my "review as you taste" habit for these posts. While I was at the tasting, the weather went from sun to light snow to rain and back to snow again, and that may be the best summary of Spring in the High Desert I could give (though thankfully the sun usually figures much more prominently in the mix).

The tasting started with my contribution, a Logsdon Peche N Brett:

The peach aroma was amazing, and the beer overall beer is great, but the minimal brett presence was unfortunate. From others' comments, I think this beer is a balancing act between aging for more prominent brett while still drinking soon enough before the peach fades.

Then came Straffe Hendrik Heritage 2011:

This quad had more going on in the nose than the typical dark fruit, alternating between an overlay of anise or red wine.

We dialed it back with a crowler of Austin Beer Works Lotion in the Basket:

This lager with new school hops was my favorite of the afternoon. An amazing tropical smell, and a smooth light taste with notes from the aroma. Would love to have this available locally.

Next up was the 2015 Parabola from Firestone Walker:

I've enjoyed this beer before (though not this vintage), and was happy to see its return. Barrel character for days, and not as boozy as I remember in past years.

We finished the evening with de Garde's Imperial Boysenberry Bu

I love de Garde's Berliners, but this wasn't among my favorites. The color is beautiful and the fruit flavor is spot on, I guess boysenberries just don't do it for me as much.

After all that, I don't have a ton to say about my current beer:

Nomader Weisse by Evil Twin brewed in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

It's a competent Berliner Weisse but without much nuance to the tartness. It doesn't have to be more complex to be tasty, but I'm spoiled by local examples and it suffers by comparison. 3.5/5

Wow....peanut butter+peanut butter=peanut butter. This brings me back to Nutter Butter bars as well as Nutty Bars and even Reese's Cups to a degree.

Smells like the aforementioned products, looks pitch black; I saw no light coming through. The taste follows the aroma and is thankfully not overpowering or too sweet. A bit more carbonated than I would have liked and if the mouthfeel was more velvety or thick, I would probably like it more but I am impressed.

Well this is two NBS in a row with a blond ale. Check me for a fever. I actually like this one a bit better than most. Who knows I may find a drinkable blond for summer yet. This one has just a bit of hoppyness on the end, and has a bit more lemony beery flavor to the mid palate. I would prolly take this out of the blonds I have had to date. Still a fairly boring style to me though.

When I say 'Out spoken@ I don't mean I now intend on 'Bible bashing' as we say here in Northern Ireland... just that I aim to be more open about my faith and your comment challenged me to do that. So thanks. enjoy your beer:slight_smile:
