Just received the email information for this new sour house that's opening. Haven't had any of their brews, but looks promising! Here's the initial info for their membership, which is like most the other sour/barrel aged memberships at $300. Below is the email information. Discuss away about this new place!

    Hello friends of CASA,
We are excited to announce that we are opening up a limited number of memberships for the CASA Bottle Membership Club. Below are some highlights for the CASA Bottle Membership Club.

    • Ten 750 mL bottles of sour beer (Blender’s Choice - 2 bottles of 5 different blends)
    • First opportunity to purchase most bottle releases online
    • 10% discount on all online purchases (bottles and merchandise)
    • Two pieces of custom membership glassware

    • Surprise gift at expiration of membership
    • First opportunity to purchase a 2017 membership, before they go on sale to the public.

On Monday, April 13, we will open up online sales for memberships. They will go live at 10:00 am PST. You will be able to register by visiting our website at www.casaagria.com.

    The Beers
Membership will include 10 bottles of sour beer that the brewer’s at Casa Agria will create specifically for our Members. These beers will be released during 2015 and 2016. If there is an overage in production, Members will have first opportunity to purchase additional bottles. If there continues to be an excess of bottles after the Members have the opportunity to purchase them, we may sell them to the public. However, it is our intent to release these beers only to Members.

First Opportunity to Purchase Bottle Beer
In 2015 and 2016, we anticipate having limited quantities of bottled beer that is publicly released. As a Member, you will have the first opportunity to purchase a limited number of bottles before they go on sale to the public.

    10% Discount
Members will receive 10% discount on all purchases made through the website. This includes bottles and apparel.

    Custom Glassware
Each Member will receive two pieces of glassware that are specific to the Membership Club. Glassware can be shipped (at additional charge) or picked up at the brewery.

    Membership ID Card
Membership includes a personalized membership card.

First Right of Acceptance to 2017 Membership
Members will have the first opportunity to purchase a 2017 membership.

    Order Shipping and Pick-up
There are three options for fulfilling Membership allocations and additional purchases for Members:

    1. Pick-up at brewery - Orders can only be picked up during designated hours.
    2. Shipping within California - Members who live or work in California, can have their orders shipped directly to them at an additional cost. Legally, Casa Agira is only allowed to ship to addresses within California. A signature and government issued ID proving that the person accepting the package is 21+ years of age will be required upon delivery. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes.
    3. Trustee - Members may designate a Trustee to pick-up their beers at the brewery. A signature and government issued ID proving that the person accepting the package is 21+ years of age will be required upon pick-up. This is a great opportunity for members who live outside of California.
    Expiration
Membership is valid through December 31, 2016. All beer purchased through the 2016 membership that has not been picked up by March 31, 2017, will become the property of Casa Agria.

    Cancellation of Membership
Membership may not be cancelled or terminated by members for any reason. Casa Agria reserves the right to cancel and terminate a membership at any time and for any reason. Such reasons may include, but are not limited to, abuse of state or federal alcohol related laws, attempted shipments to minors, members reselling beer at retail establishments (regardless of whether the membership account is in the name of a retail establishment or an individual’s name), or other reasons that Casa Agria may determine in its sole discretion. If Casa Agria cancels your membership, your sole recourse is limited to a refund of your initial fees minus the non-discounted retail value of any beers or merchandise included with your membership level that have not already been picked up by you, or released by Casa Agria.

We thank you for your support, and look forward to you being part of the CASA family.

    Cheers!

Looks like a solid plan. Not sure I want to go through the cost/challenge of getting a Trustee to ship them all the way to FL.

I've heard really good things about the few bottles that were shared in FL recently.

While not normally one to drop loads of money on something sight unseen, I am intrigued for sure... I hope more information gets released about them so those of us who haven't heard much about them are able to make a better decision whether or not to commit Bruery or Rare Barrel type money for a membership.

Never heard of them. Intrigued, but not intrigued enough to drop 300.

Have they won any national awards?

Glad to hear nobody knows of them. Good, keep it that way. Use "national awards" as your decision making process and ignore these guys.

Does a "national award" make any beer or brewery better? Not in my eyes... The beauty is in the eye of the "beer holder" and I'll judge them for their quality of brews myself, not what a panel of judges at some Colorado beer festival says. Plus they'll be so much closer to Central/So Cal than the other two sour powerhouses up in the Bay Area.

Curious how much wed see in 2015 if they are still receiving equipment for the brewery. Maybe they have already started with whatever their current setup is.

you have to judge them by something. Cant find much info on them other then untappd and instagram. When I drive an hour and a half to two hours. I want to make sure it's worth the drive.

National awards don't hurt. Tell me when national recognition hurts a brewery.

I will, thanks. I'm not the type of person that throws $300 at something I haven't tried or heard of. If you are, then good for you.

I think Casa has been small to the point that their bottles haven't good beyond friends and bottle shares. afaik, the only bottles that have gone out to the public are via their raffles. Far too small for anything like awards. They are just now receiving their brewing equipment.

At this point its either you have had their stuff or its word of mouth.

I refuse to drink SARA or Hill Farmstead until they win a GABF gold medal.

Yeah because I base what I drink only on awards. Since I have no other info, is it wrong to ask about any accolades they may have received?

I can respect that. Don't shell out the bucks the first go around then. I'm considering splitting a membership with two other friends so that it hurts less if the beers aren't good. But if they become as sought out as SARA or Rare Barrel or deGarde then I'll have come up on a sweet membership. Its so hard to find a brewery devoted to all sour beers, so that's why I'm certainly leaning toward signing up.

I love Sour Beers. I split a membership for Bruery and El Cat. I think its the best way to go. If this becomes another de garde then Awesome! I'm just loving De Garde.

So has anyone outside of "family and friends" tasted this stuff, and available to offer an objective opinion?

Untappd is more or less useless if it's just homered up friends punching in ratings. I mean, sh*t, most people in general don't seem to know there's ratings less than 3 on untappd anyway...

I'll be signing up, it will be my 1st membership with a brewery.

I'll pass on future Veritas, didn't like V014 and Rare Barrel was better than V015 side by side.
