I don't think I've ever had a mezcal barrel aged beer so I'll have to take your word for it. Well, take your word for it for now anyway -- I am going to try the mezcal Parabola when that gets tapped in Boston next week. :grinning:

Fantastic! I'll keep an eye for this for sure

I really didn“t like Xocoveza at all. But I hope your petition works and you can get some Xocoveza in the future. Cheers!

The price:quality ratio is definitely a factor in why people like this so much. In the DC area, it's 1/3 the price of Abraxas, 1/2 the price of Bomb and I've seen Huna at one store for $130 (obviously the owner acquired it through Huna day or trade). Sure, Xocoveza is thinner than Bomb and Abraxas, but I expect it to be since it's so much cheaper. I think it's still a great spiced stout that was cheap and widely available when it was released. I'd love to see it come back.

With this kind of interest, maybe someone could get Chris Banker into a business venture.

I completely agree. The thought of barrel aging makes me cringe with this beer. It's perfect the way it is.

Comparing this to Abraxas/Huna/Mexican Cake isn't really fair, since all three of those are big imperial stouts that are > 10% abv. Of course they are going to have more body.

It also takes me quite a few hours to power through one of those bottles on my own, whereas I can drink a bottle of Xoco in a couple hours.

All that said about not comparing, etc... I'd still take a Xoco over a Bomb! 9 times out of 10.

So long as they don't throw it in a barrel, I'm all for them making this one a seasonal release

Nice to see you too, Mike. :grinning:

Honestly, I wanted to put it out there in as many forms as I could and let the Internet do the rest. I liked it... A LOT. Guilty as charged. Anyone FCBaa affiliated would attest to my madness, haha

If this works out and Thirsty Pug gets an alottment, you best be saving me some, buddy.

I once spoke to a distro rep for the NE area and insisted that he let the company know to get Banker on retainer. Dude's got skills!

I often agree with the idea of "if it's not broke, don't fix it" but look at Huna and Cake -- they are absolutely outstanding on their own but it's hard to argue that they didn't benefit from barrel aging.

Note - I am not listing those two because they are also spiced/chili stouts, but rather they just immediately came to mind.

The brewery space could be put to better use. On to this years gimmick.

Finally cracked open my one bottle last weekend, really enjoyed it.

Let me know when the petition for yearly releases of Espresso RIS gets going.
