It's gone, unless you are fine with a $20 bottle

Allow me to beat the dead horse....

KBS at $10 a 4-pack isn't going to bankrupt the store. Actually, if I remember correctly, the wholesale price (i.e. what distributors are charging retailers) comes out to $2-3 per bottle. At best they're making a $.50 profit on each bottle sold. At worst they're losing $.50. My source - a midtown bottle shop owner. I'll reconfirm it later today.

    Oh, the horror!

Now say we were discussing Cascade bottles. Well that's a whoooooooooole different ballgame.

Closest place to Union square that has it is Croxley's Ale House for $12.50 a bottle, but since it's a bar it must be consumed there.

anyone who thinks anyone in a business transaction should tell the other side the value is off their rocker. would you do that in the stock market? or the housing market? or in any other market? and as pointed out, that has nothing to do with being a decent human being

If anyone's really hard up for higher quantities of KBS, Central Wine Merchants seems to have a bunch in stock and will ship to NYC. All for the low, low price of $14.99/bottle (plus shipping, unless you want to take a drive out to Flemington).

I didn't say it was a great option, but it is an option...

Is that the beer place on 39th or so? If so this place is famous for this. But seriously, this takes the kbs cake for now!

Yep- 39th and 9th. I figured they would be a lot...I was prepared for a response of $15 a bottle (which I still wouldn't have paid) but I was absolutely floored when he said $30.

For anyone who does like KBS I recommend picking up bottles of Sunday Morning instead. A KBS clone without the hype (for now).

That place is the fucking worst. I laughed in his face when he said a single bottle of BCBS was upwards of $20.

While I agree that SMS is a good beer and cheaper than KBS, I dont understand all this talk about it being on the same level as KBS. I've been down in NC all week visiting my old college and I've come across a bunch of bottles of SMS and KBS. I did a side by side comparison and for the price (SMS at $5 and KBS at $7), KBS is still a much better deal. SMS has this stale coffee taste and the alcohol is way to present. Might get better with age but at this state I'll stick with KBS as the better beer.

Not talking down on anyone's opinions, but I have seen a lot of talk in threads about KBS in Nj praising how much better SMS was and how KBS wasn't worth the effort.

Hell, after all, they are opinions.

May not be on exact same level but it is very close especially considering the time/effort/price level of acquiring kbs vs Sunday morning.

That's interesting. I did a blind taste test review with my friend. We both hands down thought SMS was better.

I was actually shocked by how bad KBS was in context.
