He was planning on shipping back to friends as gifts before he hastily boarded his flight, which was at 330pm.

Out him so users can decide whether to trade with him in the future.

Not shaming anyone. I know I've made my share of mistakes, and I wouldn't want my name plastered on the forum either.

asking for another beer over 6 bucks is not something i would do especially in a large trade, if a trading partner did that to me would not like that, hat may have turned him off. 18 days, 14 days not a huge deal, ZD does fall off quickly, but 4 days wont matter. Also, you had no bad intentions of doing this and were guaranteeing you procured the beer, not so easy for a beer that sells quickly.

Bad move on both sides - you agreed to the beers for trade, it's your fault if you projected prices wrong, you agreed and then backed up on that agreement and asked for more. Good luck and hope you can enjoy DLD anyway!

I think you made a couple of mistakes here. It was agreed that the ZD would be purchased no more than 14 days before DLD. That's the oldest it was supposed to be yet you purchased it 4 days early. Your reasoning was sound, but that reasoning should have been applied prior to making the agreement, not after. People are often uber concerned about freshness of hop forward brews. Some beers fall off ridiculously FAST & the concern is warranted. Regardless, don't make agreements you don't feel you can honor.

Asking for an additional beer was at best cheesy, imo, especially over $6. Few things turn me off faster than reaching an agreement only to have 'negotiations' sneak in again with requests for more, better, whatnot. At that point if the trade isn't locked down I'm gone. To clarify, I've had traders make reasonable requests, which I don't mind at all. It's those who preferred negotiation tactics are passive aggressive 11th hr roundabout dodge & dart requests for more & more & more that I find galling.

On the upside, setting up a similar trade for the ZD & other FFF beers shouldn't be difficult.

Also, declining to name the other party is appropriate & a classy move on your part.

Asking for another beer was tacky. When I trade I don't really care about $4$ though. You had to spend more $$ because you were trading mass produced IPA's for rarity.

Thanks again for the info. The trade is officially off. Sucks for him, as he will not have enough time in town to physically pickup the beer himself. Unless he has setup another trade with someone he knows (doubt it), that will be his only recourse.

He proposed the trade to me, and although I'm disappointed that he decided that it wasn't worth it to him, I'll get over it. I've also gotten offers to take any extra I have left off my hands, so I won't be stuck with too much beer.

I was doing him a favor by pickup up cases and bombers, and then meeting him in Chi before he boarded his flight. I think that has some value, since he wouldn't have access otherwise.

And he was doing you a favor by going to the Brury because you wouldn't have access, right? Your mentality is the 'it snowed in line so my beer is more valuable' shit. Honesty, you didn't buy the beer within 14 days as you promised and you tried to squeeze him for another beer when you were obviously getting the better of the trade. Tacky to me. Honestly I'd probably trade with the other guy before I'd trade with you.

I agree that once the trade was set, asking for more is wrong..but in my opinion he was getting fleeced. He's better off without that trade since he can easily offload the ZD at more $4$ friendly terms .

Your big mistake was not letting the other guy know your plan and reasoning for getting the ZD 4 days earlier than planned. If I setup a trade like that I would like forewarning so I could give my approval or rejection of the move. Also the asking for one more beer was kind of a lame move considering in any other situation you would not have the opportunity to trade for those beers with ZD.

It's interesting that some people feel the OP was getting fleeced while others feel he was getting the better deal. There is no concrete right/wrong in these situations. Value *is* in the eye of the beholder.

He would not have had access because he was flying in town 2am Saturday morning the day of DLD. His flight back is on the next day at 330pm, and FFF doesn't open til noon on Sundays. His only way to get any package goods is to have someone pick it up for him in advance.

In all, I would have been paying $105 + a bottle of 2014 Hunahpu for his Veritas and Chocolate Rain, which he paid $71 for.

2 cases of ZD plus 3 bombers from FFF as he stated in his OP.
