moustache makes beer taste metallic

    Honest to god, just noticed it with a pilsner I'm drinking, and have noticed it on and off with random beers. No idea why facial hair would make beer taste metallic.

    Except for a 4 year period in the early 80's, I have had facial hair since around 77 or so with no effect on the taste of beer or anything else.
    On a side note, the really disturbing part of this whole thread is, beard oil and mustache wax.:confused:

    How has nobody suggested straw use? Ya, you'll look like, well, odd as all shit but hey, no more metallica 'stache issue.

    For the record, I do not, and will not EVER endorse straw use with beer unless in the following circumstances:

    1. Sneaking beer into a public place via commercial cup/lid/straw combo (McDonalds cup for instance.
    2. Mustache issues.
    3. Broken jaw.

    Time to start drinking those Porters and Stouts with a straw.

    Whisker Dam, its like an umbrella for your face. Although it is made of copper which might make it taste even more metallic!

    some stouts just taste metallic to me. Sierra Nevada comes to mind. I've drank it bearded and clean shaven and I'm pretty sure it's just a property of this particular stout. It may not be your facial hair.

    Some girls liked my beard and crazy mustache, for sure. But the girl that became my wife loved it when it all came off. She said she had no idea what I really looked like! It has all stayed off for a very long time. I very rarely detected metal in my flavorful mustache.
