Like chasing the hottest girl in your high school class, or standing on a 2 hour line to get into the best night club and subjected to the bouncer's mood, or chasing a 4 pack of Heady during a busy XMAS week in Vermont, I like many here get caught up in the newest "high demand" beer and spend too much time figuring out how to reel it in. Just wondering other stories and whether at the end you thought it was worth the effort???? is it all about the chase???

Advance disclosure: I know I sound like a grumpy old man, although I am only a grumpy middle aged man. I never stand in line for anything. I don't chase any beers. I let the hottest girl in HS chase me . It's never worth the effort. I go to my stores, get great beer, I drink it. No "ragrets."

Waited 17 hours and slept in a parking lot to buy Churchill's Finest Hour and get some Pliny the Younger. Was it worth it...? Sorta, yeah. Now I can say I've done it and the tap list was amazing that day.

I feel like it's sort of a beer right of passage.

Agree. Personally found out long ago that chasing the rare/most popular seldom is better than discovering the quality that is ready to hand. (BTW, I prefer to think of it as being a grumpy mature man.)

I may rush out on lunch to grab a rare beer when it arrives at a local store but that is about as far as I go. I did a lot of the chasing my first year in the craft scene and I quickly realized that I enjoy the everyday solid offerings just as much without the hassle and often times the price tag. Just imo.

I am seeking Stone Enjoy by 4/20/15 and distributors aren't delivering until 5/1/15. I see a problem...

Done chasing beer skirt. But the drive from Bellaire to Luddington, MI, after spending the day in Traverse City tramping about their beer-holes was a bit of a drive of shame.

Well I'm and old guy will be 60 in Oct. But I'll up at 3:00 am tomorrow and on the road to MBC for the dinner release like a bunch of other people. What can I say I like good beer.

Had to travel to Mikata, Japan to the Studio Ghibli Museum to try this Studio Ghibli Kaze no Tani beer which is only available at the Mugiwara Boushi Cafe:

EDIT - I will say it is hard to beat a beer label that has been designed by Ghibli artists.

I don´t suffer to get nice beer, I get the best I see when I go to my friend´s store. He also knows what to save for me when something good arrives.

Pretty good. I wish I was using Untappd at the time so I could have taken notes, but unfortunately I can't remember what kind of flavor profile it was. I tried to save the label, but it was glued on pretty good and I really didn't want to carry an empty beer bottle with me across Japan.

I had heard of Heady Topper from my home here in California, but I knew I wouldn't be trying it any time soon. I also had heard of the fabled Cantillon, but had never seen it in stock anywhere where I live.

Oh, well, there are plenty of other great beers that are readily available.

Lo and behold, I pop in to a favorite bottle shop and the manager whisks me into the "back room" and offers to sell me both without my even asking. I didn't want to insult him, so I bought some.

I also did my time at brewery releases (mainly Firestone) and I think I'm done with that. They're just not fun to me any longer.

Took me awhile, but I was finally able to track down some Sip Of Sunshine by Lawsons in CT after I convinced the owner of a small shop that I wasn't simply some kid looking for the "it" beer, but a true snob….well worth it!!

There is fun in the chase and seek. Don't let it consume you but take an afternoon to seek a beer or wait in line.
