I've been looking for a bottle and have so far been unsuccessful. I offered a bottle of Black Tuesday in trade and I'm just wondering if that's a little too much. Thanks if you can help.

It's $20 plus tax from the brewery and the bottling runs are generally around ~1k (or below), I believe, and some generally winds up being held back for festivals. It was last released around this time last year - they haven't announced when another batch of Kiwi will be released again. Depending on how much you want it, Black Tuesday is probably fair though a little above $4$. You'd probably have an easier time trading it once it's released again as the few bottles that made it to distro are long gone from the shelves, but as with any trade on here, it just takes the right eyes to see it. Good luck.

You offered a Black Tuesday and got no hits? Then how could it possibly be "too much"? I'm a little confused...

I would think a BT should pull an Upland Kiwi, but anymore it seems like the old saying "all it takes is for the right person to see it" is becoming more and more true. The one tricky thing about trading for the Uplands is that there are only a couple hundred of each variety made in each batch. Also, since they do online sales that have gained lots of popularity, I would guess that *most* people who buy them these days are purchasing to drink far more often than to trade, but that's just complete conjecture on my part.

I didn't say I got no hits, I did, and that's why I'm asking this. I think it's pretty fair to be honest, I liked BT and it's something I'd like to age but I want to try some more sours and there is a decent amount of BT floating around, can't say the same for the Upland.

I mean, if you were willing to put it up FT looking for an Upland Kiwi, then I think you have your answer. Is it the most you can get for your Black Tuesday? Probably not, but in reality that's not what beer trading is about. You want to try Kiwi, other guy/girl wants to try BT. Maybe even up the $4$ a bit and you should have a deal.

If multiple people respond to a trade, yes, you're offering too much. You want to put up an ISO:FT that gets one hit.

I think he should go Black Tuesday + locals for Upland Kiwi + Upland Persimmon

So, let me get this straight: you thought this was a fair trade, and one you were willing to make, but once a few people proved they were willing to accept the offer that you proposed you suddenly got worried that - what - you were being too generous?

Once upon a time, way back in the spring of 2011, I offered four different Uplands for a Black Tuesday (2010, obviously). I didn't get any hits, but I got a few BMs saying I was offering up too much. My how the times have changed...

How you didn't land a 2010 during the online signup is mindboggling.

Luckily, a mere one year later, I did an IP trade with some guy at DLD for my 2010 Black Tuesday. Then we walked around and stole everyone's Dark Lords.

I posted a thread saying I have a bottle of Black Tuesday for trade, and I'm looking for Upland Kiwi. I never said I would go 1:1, and I'd be an idiot not to ask what the value of it is because as I said, I wasn't exactly sure.

...now that we got that out of the way, thanks everyone for your input.

I once got offered an Upland Kiwi 1:1 for my Eclipse 18. I really regret not taking the deal now.

Just be careful, this single trade that you do is about to set trading values for both BT and Upland Kiwi that could have a chaos theory butterfly effect that shakes the trading community's value rankings to its core.

My god - it's like - how trading is supposed to work.

To the OP, and others of this mentality. When you do a trade like Black Tuesday for an Upland lambic, you will typically find that good things happen to you in return. I would imagine that most people who take that deal would happily kick you a second Upland lambic as an extra and/or to make up the big $4$ difference - they have many other tasty styles either readily available at the brewpub or stocked in the cellars of the same guy who would have a Kiwi sitting around for trade. It's no guarantee, but trading works out like this 9 times out of 10 when you are generous with your offer.

Not trying to "start a fight" and OP I know you have your answers so just ignore this but how is this generous? I think it's pretty spot on, aren't the Upland Lambics about $22? and BT $30? Not to mention I imagine at this point I would think its tougher to land a Kiwi than a BT just due to the smaller numbers. Although I do agree that most people who perceive an offer as generous tend to reciprocate the generosity.

I agree with you 100% Dude. I traded an '09 BA Yeti for a Kiwi, I have still yet to try the Kiwi though. I have to say I'm really looking forward to it. I've had the Raspberry and Persimmon and thought they were both delicious. Now I know why they sold out so quick.

II'm also a pretty big fan of BT, I just figured the BT would be easier to get due to the higher numbers.

My answers were sarcastic. I didn't understand the problem of a 1 for 1.

Correct, that's why I didn't quote you :stuck_out_tongue:. I believe, could be wrong, that cbeer thought the BT for the Kiwi was a generous offer. I understand the $8-10 difference but I was just saying I thought it was pretty close to being fair (maybe Kiwi throw in a local or two) and didn't really think it was that generous. Not saying it was a bad trade either, just that it was fair. And if Cbeer did think it eas generous I was just curious as to why, maybe there's a good reason that I didn't think about, that's all.
