How's it going? I've been trying beers from all over for a couple years now. I am trying to see if there may be a store that would sell some great beer located in San Diego. I am trying to find Zombie Dust ideally, any advice is welcomed. Thanks in advanced.

Only way your going to get Zombie Dust in california is by trade via shipping or in person, it isnt distributed to California.

Let us know what other beers you might be looking for and others might be able to chime in.

I make a list of a couple that sounded extremely good.

    Bell's Amber Ale
    Russian River Damnation
Trillium Fort Point Ale (Mosaic Dry Ideally)
    Coast's 32°/50°
    Heady Topper

There are many more.. like aforementioned I understand that some of these may not be distributed to Calfornia, but any advice is warranted.

Heady Topper your going to have to trade for as it's limited in VT.
Bell's you should be able to find at bevmo and local liquor's. Damnation is possibly to snag too, just wouldnt be able to say where about in SD. Its limited quanities that get distributed and about every month give or take a couple weeks if im not mistaken.

    The others I can't say.

Haha, not sure where you think you are getting a DDG in August but I highly doubt we will see batch3 of it until late 2016, at the absolute earliest.

Now as for festivals, probably or resale as well there may be a few 2013 bottles still out there. Otherwise there is always MBC aftermarket.

When I work in San Diego, I generally find places that are walking distance to my office, so as for a bottle shop, I found Best Damn Beer Shop on 7th and Broadway to carry a very nice selection of distributed beers and even harder to find ones.

Bottlecraft in Little Italy which moved to a new location recently had a good selection too.

I wouldn't say it is for 2016 since based on the article it states it would go on sale from the link on Thursday August 8th, which happened in 2013 and not again until 2019.

So the article you are linking, was done in 2013 around the June/July time period.

Edit: I was off, that update was on Aug 1st, 2013.

Your best bet of getting the 2013 (batch 2) version is trade for it, bottle share to sample it, or else there may be 1 or 2 stores here where you could potentially buy a bottle (at a markup of course).

I would say MBC but I honestly don't want to even see what those people are wanting for a bottle.

Here is a link that will tell you what breweries are distributed in what areas. That way you aren't that guy asking do you have heady topper at a bottle shop in SD.

haha, Well now I know.. I realized that Heady was brewed in Vermont. I didn't quite know where it was distributed at, so I figured I take a chance to see if it could potentially be located in San Diego. Not quite a expert as you guys, but practice makes perfect. Glad I could provide a laugh here and there for you guys.

Hey now, obviously the guy is brand new to (craft) beer, and hasn't really got a full understanding. If I could give myself advice back in 2004 about what to do when you get into craft beer, I'd say just totally focus on the local beer, it's almost always better than anything you trade for because it's fresher. Freshness is HUGE. Freshness can make a slightly above average fresh local IPA about as good as a 1-2 month old really highly rated beer you had to trade for. Which makes it not worth what you have to give up to try that aged beer. (we're talking lighter beers like pales/ipas/dipas that fade quickly)

    I agree with @MiScusi

I really don't understand trading for IPAs. At the very best, you're getting something that's a week old. Most likely though, you're getting something that's a month or two old. With the World Class IPAs that you can drink fresh in San Diego, you can keep your Heedy Tooper. That's not to say Heady isn't great, it's just not worth the trouble.
