Off topic - but had a ticket months in advance to attend this year and then found out I had a business event I had to attend the same weekend and couldn't get out of.

To get back on topic with terminology: "Dark Fruit". (Too general and I'm guilty of using.)

Not sure why this is here. It's an actual term to describe how bitter (or not) a beer is.

It should mean nothing in relation to beer.

Complex is a multitude of flavor notes. A standard American lager for example is rather monotone in flavor, have one and you will know what I mean. Then have an Arrogant Bastard, you will note strong hops and dark almost burnt malts, that is an example of complex.

But what other word should I use when I don't like a popular beer, and therefore think my opinion is god and everyone is wrong?

Bitter (IPAs are bitter, ESBs are bitter, coffee stouts/porters are bitter, etc....)

THE WORST: swill. It automatically clicks in my brain you have an overly high opinion of yourself. Like, "How dare those brewers put a product out that doesn't sit well with MY palate. MINE is the only one that matters. This abomination that takes brewers months of their lives, sometimes years, and it now has zero value because I don't like it." I HATE that word!!!!

I guess I've just heard it describe a ton of IPAs that don't smell or taste like weed. Really though, I just hate the word unless it's being used to describe a basement or a dungeon.
