Mountain biked for 3 hours today for 27 miles of mostly singletrack trails. I feel absolutely amazing right now.

    Reviews:

Very nice Kolsch. Aromas and flavors of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish. Very well balanced malt, hop, and yeast flavors. Smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel with a touch of bready creaminess. Fairly dry. Very well done, but fairly hoppier than I expected for the style. Not grossly overdone on the hops though. Everything else about it was spot on.

This is damn good. IPA with rhubarb, strawberries, and vanilla added. Aromas and flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, rhubarb, lemon zest, orange peel, light pine, vanilla, cracker, and bread; with floral/grassy hop earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness and slight rhubarb tartness on the finish. Really well balanced flavors with balanced bitterness as well. Lowly carbonated but still fairly crisp with some light creaminess and hop stickiness. Really impressive. Not surprised that I got no strawberries in the flavors or aromas, they rarely lend any flavors unless you use a ton of them. They would have been better off using Belma hops in the bill.

Some kind of imperial cream ale with vanilla and cinnamon. It's supposed to replicate a Latin rice pudding dessert. This is really tasty. Aromas and flavors of wheat, honey, bread, vanilla, cinnamon, cream, light nuttiness, and a touch of herbal hops. No bitterness at all; but a really great balance of spice and pale malt flavors that really gives it a creamy dessert vibe overall. The spices aren't all that huge but definitely very noticeable. Zero warming alcohol here(7.5%) with a nice light-moderate creamy mouthfeel. I will definitely say that the base beer does have a general authentic feel of a cream ale if it were "imperialized"(reminds me of AVBC summer solstice a bit as well); and the spices are really well integrated without throwing off the base beer balance. Really delicious.

The Stone 13 was a red toffee malt explosion up front ending with an impressive piney bitter bite (after six years it still had a bitter bite - impressive!). 'Expected the experience and blew through it the best I could.

    'Need a palate scrubbah!!!!!!

North Coast Puck. A bit of a light saison, but certainly a quaffable brewski.

Schneider Weisse Tap 4 Hefeweizen. I was already a huge fan of Hefeweizen's but the higher than usual hoppiness of this brew really cemented my feelings toward the style. Excellent brew and still incredibly drinkable at 6.2%.

Round 1: O'so Imperial Night Train porter aged in bourbon barrels. Infected, not infected......whatever. I tried to like it. Actually thought it was good at first but then it went downhill fast.

Round 2: Not Your Father's Root Beer. Much, much better.

Phone died so no solo pic for the Otter Creek, which was pretty solid, not as juicy as expected, but I also drank it colder than I prefer. And onto Double Cannon, which is wayyyyy sweeter than expected, but these days, all is well, and everything is good.

I'm primarily a guitarist by trade, but was asked to sit in with a band this Sunday in Philly for a food truck event at Lincoln Financial Field. I've been practicing everyday and having a blast. Here's a tune we're playing that I can't get enough of!

I talked the one guitarist into switching instruments during the 3rd chorus that drops with just drums and vox, so we get the best of both worlds. Cheers all, here's to a kickass start to the warm weather, festival playing, and outdoor l L I V I N
