I am traveling to DC next week and will be staying near the Capitol. I am looking to see where I should go that has the best bottle selection. Also, what local type stuff should I look for if I'm into fruity IPAs and Double IPAs as well as Flavored/BA stouts and porters. Thanks guys.

Thanks for using the search function and not crudding up our MA forum with this thread that's "never" been done before....

Schneider's is in Capitol Hill and has good stuff. DC brau has a DIPA that's worth buying, its ~15 mins from Union Station.

I saw a couple of posts regarding bottle shops in DC, but they were a bit dated and I know new shops are opening up all the time with the craft beer explosion. I've had OTWOA before, but didn't know if it would still be available know.

These threads do pop up pretty often, but no worries. I would recommend checking out some of the older threads, because many of the good bottle shops and bars are still around and I haven't seen too many new spots pop up in the last year.

Whole Foods P St. is widely regarded as one of the best bottle shops in the area. They have a great selection of locals and sometimes hard to find bottles from all over. They also tend to put some great beers on draft for both growlers and on-site consumption. The downside is that it's a bit of a walk or cab ride from the closest Metro stations. I believe the closest stops are DuPont Circle (Red line) and McPherson square (Orange line).

If you get to Whole Foods, be sure to set aside some time to stop in and check out the tap list at Churchkey. This is probably the most famous craft beer bar in DC and their selection is always awesome.

Connecticut Avenue Liquors is right by the DuPont Circle metro and is a small shop, but has a decent selection and gets some tough to find bottles (though they usually go quickly).

Bluejacket Brewery is a really cool brewpub that is right by the Navy Yard Metro stop (Green line) and by the Washington Nationals stadium. They usually have 20 of their own beers on tap and a few available in to-go 750ml bottles. Good food, but a bit on the pricey side. It's almost worth a trip just to see the facility.

DC Brau is a long walk from the closest metro (I believe Rhode Island stop on the Red line) or a cab ride. You can probably still grab some 2-3 week old OTWOA and the new collab with Oskar Blues called Smells Like Freedom.

As for local beers, definitely pick up some Hardywood Bottles. Their Bourbon Barrel-aged Sidamo Coffee stout should be easy to find and is great! You might still be able to find their Bourbon Barrel Barleywine as well. 3 Stars Brewing Pandemic Porter should be easy to find too.

I went to blue jacket when I was in DC last year and enjoyed it thoroughly. Going to try and catch a nationals game so might go again. Thank you for the recommendations.

Place is an absolute zoo during Nats games, just FYI. I stay far away from that place during game days.

Like I always say, if you're looking for great local beer (and tasty food too), go to Right Proper.
