I just received a bottle of the Cellar 3 Silva Stout and I thought I was getting the 'regular' Silva Stout. When I ordered it the picture was of the Cellar 3 but since I had never seen it I didn't look more closely. The caption read 'Silva Stout'.

Should I be pissed? I was excited to knock off a Top 250 which as of right now won't be happening. The reality is I probably would only get my money back so I wouldn't return it anyway. I know it doesn't count for much but it is actually one of the cooler bottles I've ever seen. Just curious as to what everyone thinks.

It is the same beer to my knowledge.

Great question - I just bought a C3SS - are they the same? Here's my search on the site... Showa two listings, but the beers sound and seem the same - maybe just a new label and name?

    Anyone know? @WckdVbz?

As far as I know it's the same thing. Cellar 3 is just their barrel program now.

I've never had, or even heard of, either to be honest.

Part of my confusion is that on BA there is a listing for each one. I know it happens from time to time and one is deleted or they are merged or something.

It is the 3rd batch of Silva Stout made. Same process as the first two, Heaven Hill barrels. Just a new bottle. a new batch. Cellar 3 is the new off site barrel house for GF in poway. All the beers bottled there will be in 750 cork and cage. 5 releases this year.

If they keep these separate after merging Stone Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout with Fyodor's Classic, I'll be displeased.

I'd request that they get merged, but it will never happen.

As it's technically more accurate I'm going to keep it in my Gots as a Cellar 3 and see what happens. I figure I have at least 2 years for this thing to get sorted out.

@dwagner003 what does it really matter? If it's ticks you're after, rate both the same. *bonus* double the ticks!

I literally have no good reason, I just don't like inconsistencies. And no double rating. What kind of spineless monster do you think I am?

Well, I went ahead and made the request (since I'm reviewing the beer today) with some supportive evidence from the Green Flash website and this thread. For the record, I did my review under the original listing
    We'll see, eh?

    Cheers, folks :sunglasses:

BTW, Where are you getting this information? It'd go a long way toward merging the listings if you had a link to your source.

    Thanks :sunglasses:

Think the reason there are two listings for the beer is there were two Silva bottlings in 12oz bottles at the Vista brewery then the Mira Mesa brewery. 3rd one is the Cellar 3 bottling in 750's at the new Poway location. I guess technically it is two different beers but except for the bottle size made the same way every time. Batch 2 from Cellar 3 will be released at the end of this year will be in 750's as well. The beer is ready to drink now BTW.

So wait, and sorry to keep at you on this - but in your opinion, should the two listings on the site be merged?
(At this point, I sure hope you say "yes" lol)

Thanks again, man - cheers :sunglasses:
