Besides the obvious difference what do you BP enthusiasts think of these two top rated IPA's? Which of the two are really worth the money?

Both are stellar but I find myself picking up more of the grapefruit when I find it

p.s. Get ready for alot of "it cost too much" stuff

It does cost too much but Graprefruit Sculpin is so good.

I buy Grapefruit Sculpin almost every time I see it; haven't bought regular in many years.

Grapefruit is the better although sculpin is extraordinary to begin with.

Had standard version last night. IMO grapefruit so much better.

Since we got grapefruit distro here, I've bought a case's worth in all. Regular just doesn't do it for me anymore. We have Firestone union jack in cans here for $5 less than sculpin as a go to ipa. Plus it's better tasting IMO. But grapefruit is awesome so will still buy (though I could probably put a little grapefruit juice in union jack for same, cheaper results).

Fresh Sculpin is outstanding. While I enjoy Grapefruit, it stills seems a tiny little bit contrived and artificial. Not so much as to be off-putting, but enough where I'd have to give the edge the more Reinsheitgebot friendly original.

Grapefruit is better IMO. Sculpin usually sits and it's over priced for what it is. With fresh Hop Drop on the floor guys are reaching for it first, so finding other fresh ipsas is a chore, no date I don't buy.

A great beer (sculpin) made better (grapefruit sculpin), imo.

Sculpin is without a doubt pricey but IMO is well worth the occasional purchase. I personally prefer the original over grapefruit but also love the habanero variant.

I thought Sculpin was too bitter to be a quality IPA. Grapefruit was basically the same but with Tang powder stirred in. I thought both were very subpar to majority of IPAs I've been tasting over last few years. Habanero was a drainpour.

Grapefruit is a pretty polarizing fruit, you either like it or not. Too overpowering, I prefer the original, albeit rarely.

The Grapefruit one is up there with one of my "perfect" beers :stuck_out_tongue:

I have always loved Sculpin and would drink it all the time if it were just a tad cheaper. That being said, I still pick it up quite regularly, even more so now that it's in cans. Regarding Grapefruit Sculpin, can it be better than the regular? Answer, yes it can and yes it is. Grapefruit Sculpin is an amazing brew and it has jumped to the top of my IPA list. Awesome.

I prefer the original, especially since a local watering hole of mine always has fresh kegs on tap. $5 for a full pint, $2.50 on happy hour.

They totally ruined a fantastic beer by putting way too much grapefruit into it.

It could be successful, but at current levels the grapefruit completely destroys the profile of a pretty subtle IPA.
