I have not been, but it seems everyone is bringing 30 bombers, being that we can't all down 30 bombers, does everyone just drag around a 100 lb sack of beer the whole night and then bring 28 of them back home? Is it better to bring 6-8 really nice beers to share and not carry all night?

I'm planning on bringing 3 bombers and going the nomadic route. I'll Set up shop or stop by whenever it seems right. If you don't have a table or a ton of friends going I wouldn't bring 30 bombers

Still does the job, she doesn't need to know that part. I'm keeping the damn hot sauce now though...

Pipework's only distributes in Illinois, so you will have to cross the border to find some. Torrence Liquors in Calumet City is probably the closest place with a good selection of Pipeworks. If you are visiting Flossmoor Station at all, Grape & Grain in Homewood is a great place. Otherwise your best bet is to venture to a Binny's, there is one in Orland Park in the south suburbs, or just go into the city.

Technically Lambics can only be brewed in part of Belgium. But as for local sours:

    - Goose Island Sisters (Lolita, Halia, Juliet, Madame Rose, Gillian)
    - Lake Effect Brewing has a few belgian style brett beers. Vielle Blonde, Brett Cerise, Brett Frambois, Session Brett Ale.
    - 18th Street does some with their side project The Sour Note. You may be able to find some at local NWI liquor stores.
    - Destihl from downstate does sours, they distribute to the Chicago area. The Saint Dekkera series are their sours.
    - Transient and Penrose do sours in this area as well, however they are brewery only releases or membership releases. You may find some Transient at Beer Temple or Capones.
    - Hailstorm released their first anniversary ale, which is a fruited sour.
    - Three Floyds also does them from time to time, Skull Ole is the most recent.

Good food, but lines were very long last year. Friend of mine said people were stealing the food as the workers were putting it out, causing longer delays. Bringing your own food is a good idea.

It's just a mini-snifter with the 3 floyds & dark matter coffee logos, people seem to go crazy for them. Supply & demand I guess, 500 snifters for 8-10 thousand attendees, and they are not normally sold in the brewpub or online.

Same with the hot sauce or coffee bombers, it's just a limited number available for thousands of attendees. So if you really want one of these, you have to go for it first thing in the morning. Personally I don't think it is worth it, if they had 5k snifters, or 5k bottles of hot sauce they wouldn't be hyped.

4000 snifters this year. No reason to run for glass.

Just remember, if you have a group ticket, you will most likely have 4 (5 if you win the scratch off) additional bombers than you came with. I find that 4 large format bottles plus a couple bottled waters is a good amount in terms of sharing and tolerable weight load in a backpack over the course of the day. Also, there's always bottle sharing back at the hotels afterwards...that is, if you're still standing.

I think Torrence is where I found IEoD last year and they had a shelf full. Hoping they still have stock from its release in December. Thanks, man.

How far back should I be standing to watch grown men run and battle over glasses and hot sauce? Probably should get there early so I have a healthy buzz to better enjoy the experience.

Pack some sandwiches is my advice. That and water will be your friend all day!

I am planning on waxing my legs up to about my knee. A little harder than buying boots, but increases the value of my shoes exponentially.

Dark Matter has said they will be using gates similar to the Dark Lord bottle sales line....so it might be less of a shitshow this year. The hot sauce is gonna be a disaster though....

    From the FAQ:

"Will packaged beer sales of other Three Floyds varieties be available at Dark Lord Day?
As a part of our festival permit we will not be selling Three Floyds packaged goods on Dark Lord Day. You can easily find Three Floyds products by using our beer locator."

...is this a change from what was previously listed? Didn't it originally say something about working with area retailers to offer items the days around DLD? Or was that somewhere else in the FAQ?

I read that previously as well....but wouldn't that just mean selling on thursday/friday since no retailer can sell beer on sunday in IN?

Yes, they updated that a couple weeks ago when the official information came out. No packaged sales on Saturday.

Guys, there is already a world-class eating establishment right outside the fest grounds:

    https://www.google.com/maps/@41.539...!1e1!3m2!1srdhQxJWtbHIJbzs8Au_0Uw!2e0!6m1!1e1

White castle--Where everyone can eat like kings! (I'm copyrighting that slogan)

Just out of curiosity, how many people on this thread plan on being at DLD past, say, 3pm? I'm getting there probably closer to that time, and am wondering if my girlfriend and I are going to be the only two left (assuming weather stays shitty like the forecasts say).
