CANBIF Spring 2015 - Hints and Hauls

I don't keep any profiles up to date here or on RB, but I'm up for pretty much anything good that I haven't had before.

My target only has a few playoff games to watch before switching to golf on espn 23. My target also is going to be in for a few nice nights of drinking top quality ales. I decided to spoil the hell out of you. The box cost me more than I just paid in income tax.

This being said, I like sours, barley wines, imperial stouts, and scotch ales that have seen wood. I also surprisingly like smoked beers, delicate German styles and glassware from top breweries. I also like beer marshmallows... Just saying #doit

I like every styles except the spice/herb/vegetable category (and even then, sometimes it's acceptable). I prefer low abv beers, but I doesn't mind some strong ones either. Like Ferris, I'm a bit of a ticker (see other site, same handle) so I prefer something I never tried but I doesn't mind drinking a beer I already had especially if I liked it and. Lambics and/or Bellwoods Stay Classy are always welcome as well. My "wants" here are "sort of" up to date but frankly I just took the Canada top-100 and added what I haven't tried yet (and some favorite lambics for good measure) so feel 1 000% free to pick something from outside that list. Homebrews are more than welcome! Good luck finding a better extra than @FondueVoodoo beer marshmallows (though @Lurkaholic came really close with some amazing beef jerky!)!

 

It would be better if the box cost you what we all paid for your job in income tax. A porch would be fully and irremediably destroyed.

My target is to the west of me.

I love IPA's and double IPA's but I have an appreciation for all styles so I'll be happy with whatever I am sent. I love trying beer not available here in Ontario or NY state

 

Unfortunately my target's wants & haves pretty much mirror my own so I'm going to be much more focused on "local" than I'd hoped!

I'm a fan of APAs, IPAs, Stouts/Porters and Black/Cascadian IPAs. The nuances of sours and saisons are probably wasted on me, although I'm always happy to try something new. I tend to lurk more on BA and use it for lists & location references; beers actually get logged on UnTappd. As for me...

I have been told that I am a tough person to have as a target, so I will try to give as much info as possible:

- If I have had it, I have reviewed/rated it on BA. So check my profile. I am always interested in trying something new.
- The only styles that I categorically do not like are smoked beers and scotch ales.
- Favourite styles are IIPA & Imperial Stout.
- I absolutely love barrel aged beers of almost any style.
- When it comes to sour styles, I especially like fruited sours (with a particular fondness of peach/apricot).

All in all, I know I have tried a lot of great beer, but there is plenty I have not tried and since I tend to "tick" everything, that should make your life easier. I will try to update "wants" as well.

I'm pretty much open to anything, but not a big fan of sours. Favourites are probably IPAs, or double IPAs, stouts, barrel aged beers, and anything tasty that I can't access in BC. Would love to try anything new and always looking to add to my list. Have a few wants posted but it isnt too extensive. Thanks in advance to whoever is putting my box together!

I have a lot of big wants in my BA profile but I don't expect you to fill any of them. Style preferences are listed as well which could give you a guideline as to what I prefer, but please don't limit yourself to them. I pretty much like all styles but am generally wary of smoked beers. I'm mostly looking for new things (my untappd is pretty complete) but I don't mind having something again, especially if I have rated it highly. Just send me beers you like and hopefully I'll enjoy them too

Like Lurkaholic said, don't worry too much about my box. I participate in the BIF to blow up porches rather than have mine blown up. Hell, I don't even HAVE a porch.

My wants and hads are mostly up date. I've dropped some extra info on my profile page. But having me as a target is easy; my goal is to drink good beer! If you liked it, that's good enough for me. My favorites are fresh IPA, big stouts and all things Brett/sour. Please, no smoked beers!

My target is far east from me and may be rooting for a hockey team that is in a playoff round versus my favorite hockey team of 40+ years. I have no updated lists on BA, but am active on Untapped, Twitter and Instagram. My favorite styles are: anything barrel aged, plus, porters, stouts, saisons and sours. Barleywines are close but I have a ridiculous amount of those in my cellar!

 

I hope you are referring to your tax balance owing and not the total income taxes you paid in 2014. lol

 

So first, echoing many people, I just like good beer (and epically bad beer - maybe just one as a surprise). Homemade food of any kind is a bonus, especially if its non-perishable / will survive the trip.

I prefer something new (ratings are here - https://www.beeradvocate.com/ratebeer/?path=/user/52892/ratings/) but no objection to something I have already had that is delicious. Preferred styles are saison, IPA or DIPA, RIS, things in barrels, funk and/or sour, barleywines, and even a good smoked beer. Hints to come.
