I've drank till I was sick, in my youth, hopefully I'm smarter now!

I have in the past, but it isn't helpful to your immune system. I guess it depends on how sick you are. If it's a minor cold or cough, you might be okay, you may prolong your sickness a bit. If you have AIDS or Ebola, you are an idiot.

If I have a cold and can't smell, I won't review beers but yeah, I'll drink something inexpensive/non-complex regardless. It's funny because it doesn't take as much to bring on the drunken feeling when I'm sick since I'm already a bit loopy in the first place.

But who decides when you need to go a few days without beer? As far as I'm concerned, the only one who makes that decision for myself (unless I have certain obligations than contraindicate alcohol) is me. Not anyone else, me. If I want a beer when I have the flu, and feel like I might be able to keep it down, who cares?

    No.
Can't even think about drinking when sick.
When I picture drinking my favorite beer all stuffed up and sick, I can't imagine it being that good.

This seems to be doing the trick with the cold I have tonight...

No. If I can't taste it or smell it (usually my taste buds really get dulled when ill), then it's a waste. I'll have whiskey and tea if offered, but that's about it.

The only ale I have when ill is Ginger Ale.

    Just Bourbon...does the trick too.

I don't feel like drinking when I'm sick. Although some whiskey and a hot, steamy shower helps get rid of a cold.

If I do it's usually bourbon, other than that no.

So starting yesterday I started to feel a little bit under the weather; extreme tiredness, feeling hot, eyes red and watery. Today I'm feeling a bit worse. I come home with a nice little haul of course (Cappuccino Stout, Dirty Bastard, Hitachino Nest Real Ginger Brew). I shouldn't have gone to the store, but it's Friday and it's a habit. I also have lots of delicious beers already in my fridge.

I'm sitting on my couch and I'm debating whether I should pop open a bottle (or two). I think it might make me feel a little better, amiright?

What do you do when you're sick? Do you imbibe or do you stay away?

Don't do it. You won't enjoy the beer fully and it won't improve your health. Drink plenty of water, Gatorade etc. and save the beer for later.

If you just want the alcohol, drink some whiskey, lemon, and honey, or have a couple mixed drinks. Save the beer for when you can enjoy the taste.

I appreciate the opinions. Lot of conflicting opinions on this thread. I do agree that I probably wouldn't enjoy the beer as much as if I were completely healthy. A warm English ale would be damn nice right about now, though
