Was fortunate to be in town for Thursday's Pirates/Cubs day game (and the night before too!), and must say that I continue to be impressed with the beer scene in Pittsburgh. Hit Caliente Wednesday for some of their taps and some pizza. Thumbs up on both counts. Didn't stay for the vintage night; I thought many of the prices were, as described here on BA, a bit high. Went to Lawrenceville at Roundabout and got a Good Bloke IPA (hope I got the name right) and loved it. Highlight of the night was a stop at the Full Pint Taproom. Barman and patrons there couldn't have been nicer. The IRA was excellent and the 100% Rye Rebellion was too drinkable for its 13% ABV.

Hustled out of a great, but cold, day at PNC Thursday and made it to Hough's for some BA drafts. Got to sample quite a few with my winners being Green Flash Silva, Lost Abbey Angel's Share and Lagunitas High West-ified. A really good crowd in the 4-5 o'clock hour, and pretty good service in getting beers to all of us thirsty folks. Had a lovely, easy drive to Carson St and thoroughly enjoyed the Founder's event at Library. Went upstairs, sat down and had great service, an Alpine IPA, super conversation and 4 great Founder's beers. Kudos to all who were there and the minimal shit show (a few line cutters around 7:30-ish) that these events usually turn into. Finished off with cask Helltown to cap off a super two days of beer and baseball in Pittsburgh. Can't wait to come back!

Yeah, it was a heck of week. My pocket and my car are hurting after all that driving to and from Pittsburgh though ha. I thoroughly enjoyed Piper's breakfast on Wednesday. The Grist House BA Black in the USSR was quite a pleasant surprise; it was damn good. And of course Voodoo on Saturday was awesome, as their events usually are. I also made it down to Whole Foods Wexford for the Voodoo Brunch. I may be fanboying a bit here, but the Wynona's French Toast firkin aged on rum soaked oak chips was absolutely stellar. Shout out to Curt @voodoobrewery for the conversation and answering a bunch of my questions.

Well, we had a good time. I hope attendees had as much fun watching us make fools of ourselves as we had making fools of ourselves. More than one person on the East End/CBW team (official name redacted, too inappropriate for the general public) ate it in the gravel parking lot.

I witnessed Meg Evans of Rivertowne best everyone at untying a grain bag, and I escaped a dunking after a last ditch guess on some brutally hard trivia questions. That said, the important thing was that they were able to raise a thousand bucks for Blue Canoe.

Personally, I think that it is an event that should keep going, refine the challenges, and hopefully work out some kinks so that all the brewer's could share their beer with the public during the event,

I would have liked to made it to support the Canoe.
