I got one case today, 50/50 Citra/Nelson. I was in line right at 10am about halfway down the block (short block side) from the entrance. I exited with my case around 1045a. Drinking Nelson now, good stuff. I went to the Green Diamonds release in late March and was in and out with a case in 5 mins, no line. It was raining that day though, compared to the gorgeous weather today...and a month's worth of hype that spread  I'll prob skip whatever is next, unless it is All Green Everything.

I got there around 12:15, found parking on the block as someone was leaving. The line for pours/growlers was out the door by at least 10-15 people and the place was packed. I went in, got my allotment and put my beers in the car. I was going to go back for a pour or two but the line just kept growing so I decided to save myself some time (just to get stuck in traffic for an hour and a half).

When I got there, I saw a few people bringing bottles and cans (Gandhi Bot stuck out like a sore thumb to me) out of their cars and walked towards the brewery. I wonder if people were popping open beers from other breweries in the taproom? I didn't wait around long enough to find out.

    Anyway, Citra is tasting fantastic.

Hopefully anyone who parked in McDonald's to go to OH to load up with cans gets their car towed. McDonald's is running a business, not running a parking lot for beer geeks far and wide. Behavior like this will only cause problems for OH.

I agree. We've been stressing this for weeks, maybe months now. There is plenty of parking in the area. Stop being lazy and walk a few blocks. Maybe in the winter (like this past winter) when it was -10 with the windchill, then MAYBE (I stress maybe) it would be acceptable to want to be lazy and park right across the street. But it was 65 degrees out, sunny and a beautiful day.

EDIT: I should mention that I did see a car with 3-4 people pull into the McDonald's parking lot when I arrived and got out and immediately proceeded to walk straight to Other Half. However, this car had a middle aged man in a wheelchair and its obvious they were doing it to make the trip easier for the guy. I have absolutely no problem with that. Friends being friends. But they could have also gotten dropped off and had the driver just drive around for 5 mins to find parking.

This is not good. We don't want an Alchemist situation to happen with OH.

Nice seeing everybody today :grinning: G is for not standing in line because there's no way I'm going to depend on that train to take me anywhere on a Sunday

I got there at about 5pm today and there were still plenty of cans of Citra left. I think they had only recently sold out of Nelson too, I don't really think you need to line up hours beforehand on can release days.

Me too, I saw a Modern Times bottle. Can anyone comment on this? Do these things usually turn into unofficial bottle shares?

Citra is definitely the better of the two. I think its no contest and I love beers with Nelson hops.

People bringing outside beer to a brewery, parking anywhere they please, mules and lines - sounds like true shitshow developing. great job BA.
speaking of mules - BFF already has the cans listed on beermenus.
If the next release is a Porter and a Marzen - will it be the same or its an IPA only thing?

The bottle share thing was discussed on pages 47 or 48 I think. To sum it up, it's not expected nor frowned upon so long as you specifically ask one of the people working that day if it's cool. I brought a squealer of Fat Ten-er #20 today strictly for the staff as sort of a thanks for cranking out great shit. I also sometimes bring bottles to share with whoever is around because I'm running out of room at home. No pomp and circumstance or planning done beforehand.

These beers need to be drank fast, not the kind of beers you want sitting around for months.

2 cases per person is a lot I agree, smaller limits would make sure more people get the beer, but I am sure OH would rather sell all the beer in a day as opposed to having it sit and potentially missing sales. I am sure the majority of people who go to these releases act as good citizens of the beer community, but like anything else, these releases expose some of the selfish behavior of people like hoarding, muling and parking in places they shouldn't be. It does suck, but unfortunately is the nature of the beast these days.

I do absolutely love that beer, but if G is for Green hits at any point in the future, I will straight up lose my shit.

It will be the same as yesterday, people got in line and bought beer. No big deal.

Can't imagine it will be the same given the hype AGE built at EBF

Disagree - AGE is on draft for growler fills, and it wasn't like the line kicked in 20 minutes from tapping. I think what we've seen for the last couple of releases will probably be par for the course... if anything, the discovery that you don't need to stand in line might just increase the noonish crowds and potentially decrease the people waiting on the (very smelly) sidewalk on a Sunday morning.

But we all now that the harder it is to get a beer, the better it will taste. So people will come from far and near to line-up to sleep on the sidewalk and stand in line for AGE.

Or, they could show up at the brewery any time this weekend and probably most of the rest of the year and drink it from the tap until it is coming out of their ears !

PS. You underestimate the will of the beer geeks, AGE release may take this whole thing to a new level and not in a good way.

I think this underestimates the likelihood of people running out to get AGE as trade bait. People don't trade growlers often. And don't forget Brooklyn Fine Fare can't sell growlers ... or at least they haven't yet tried
