Hey everyone, I was just wondering if there was a good spot to hangout outside and drink a growler without getting dirty looks or police attention. I have a few hours to kill tomorrow afternoon and I'd prefer to enjoy a nice growler of trillium outside as opposed to just drinking in a bar. The paradise is my final destination, so anywhere between trillium and there works (yes I realize that's like the entire city).
Given that neither BYOB nor outdoors drinking is allowed in Boston... Not sure what the answer is here. Plus it's cold out.
It's tricky on weekends because parks are full. Plus, kids and families are usually out in force if it's nice out. I'm sure you could get away with it at almost any park if you keep an eye out for the police/Rangers and aren't flaunting the fact that you are drinking. It probably just comes down to your level of comfort in doing it and enjoying the experience.
I haven't seen Trillium on draft at Row in a while. Drinking your own beer outdoor in cities can be tricky, safest is to find someone with private outdoor space (yard, deck, etc). Otherwise, parks, beach, etc could work - just need to not make a scene with it.
The secret is finding private property where the owners won't bother you. There are some great private areas, not sure what's left in Boston Proper, but if you have a quiet picnic you are allowed and BPD shouldn't bother you. Think cemeteries, private gardens etc.
There are often men drinking in a (sort of) park under the Charlesgate overpass on Comm Ave near Kenmore Square, but you should pee yourself a couple of times before showing up or the regulars might think you're putting on airs.
Get some Sip of Sunshine and some black electrical tape, cover up IPA. Boom, you got some nice lemonade!
