The places around me, tend to charge, per oz, the less you buy. One place near me even has 1 gallon bladders, that sell at $15-ish, where a 1/2 gallon is $10-ish.

Bars can obviously choose their pricing model and creating small incentives to buy in larger quantity is a pretty standard practice in beer and other industries. That doesn't mean they have to do so. Beertunes and I were just trying to offer logic behind a different pricing. You can dislike it if you want, but it makes sense!

I grudgingly accept the 16oz bottles with only minor bitching. I think 12oz is just right. But, those 22oz bottles are just the worst. I'm convinced that every 22oz bottle is the reincarnation of a kitten that has been sent to hell, after being stepped on by a heavy metal drummer.

I suspect that since there's a big release party at the specialty beer store, that they might not have been on today's delivery truck at the Coop. But the buyer there assured me they were getting them in.

Well Chuck's is having a release party tomorrow if that's anything to gauge it by.

I have to say I'm extremely impressed that they came out the gates with this many varieties of beer released at once. Girlfriend brought home 2 of each and the counter is swamped with pFriem bottles. It's a beautiful sight.

It's impressive, but it comes at a cost. They were apparently so overwhelmed with initial demand that almost everything has been going into bottles, and as a result their distributor is almost completely out of draft. It'll probably cost them a few permanent handles (at least in the near term) if they can't get beer out fast enough.

That's interesting to know, thanks. Can't say it's too surprising since it really is almost a staggering offering from them all at once. Hope it doesn't hurt them ... but honestly their beer is so good it's hard to imagine any lengthy damage.

Not sure how this will affect their business, but from my completely selfish point of view, this is not a problem. I've been unimpressed with most of their beers on draft, but found their Belgian offerings to be much better from the bottles. Thus, I wouldn't mind seeing them lose a few tap handles in exchange for bottles.

Interesting thought about possible draft supply issues. Though I have seen nothing that would allude to that being an issue. In addition to all the bottles being sampled last night. There were also four kegs on. There have also been multiple kegs on here and there around town.

The bottle release and tasting in Bellingham was a great success. Wonderful people and a great product line, the Flanders Blonde is something special. They all seem to be just as excited to put bottles out as we are to receive them. If you can make it to any of the bottle release / tasting parties this week I highly recommend it.

Agreed. It helps a lot that I think their beer is solid, but all the people I've met from pFriem seem very genuine and like they're making beer for the "right" reasons. I extra like supporting breweries when they have that vibe (there are lots of them in the NW).

This FIB brought bottles of Pfriem Flanders Blonde back to Chicago with him. My smarts are exponential.
