Booze executives are "lamenting about the heightened level of promotional intensity in the marketplace" as craft beers take over, according to a recent report by RBC Capital Markets.

Promotional intensity generated by competition with breweries that tend themselves to have miniscule promotional budgets.

“Budweiser is quickly losing its status as the most iconic beer brand in America.

A recent company study found that 44% of drinkers aged 21 to 27 have never tried the brand, reports Tripp Mickle at The Wall Street Journal.”

That is not good news for AB.

    Cheers!

Yep, but social media with a much higher level of cross talk between customers than ever before has led to a re-defintion/re-thinking of how marketing is/can be conducted. But the big guys haven't really figured that out yet.

They're mostly accustomed to throwing money around to market, not making their product better.

The brand? Budweiser or does that include Bud Light?

Anywho, that will teach you AB for picking on Budvar even though you were around first.

I will state anecdotally that, after traipsing around Vegas for 3 days, "craft" beverages are EVERYWHERE - and BMC beverages are 2nd tier.

All IMHO, of course, but I pay attention to these things, and it is staggeringly easy to find really good beverages her in The Americana Capitol of The USA.

I am assuming it specifically means Budweiser (Bud Heavy). I see too many young people with cans/bottles of Bud Light in their hands to believe that it includes Bud Light.

    Cheers!

    What I figured too.

"Here comes The King, here comes the big Number One!
Budweiser beer, the king is second to none.
Just say Budweiser, you've said it all.
Here comes The King Of Beers, so lift your glass, let's hear the call.
Budweiser Beer's the one that's leading the rest,
And beechwood aging makes it beer at its best.
One taste'll tell you so loud and clear.
There's only one Budweiser beer, there's only one Budweiser beer!
When you say Bud there's nothing left you can say.
    (When you say Bud!)
When you say Bud, The King is right on his way!
    (When you say Bud!)
The King is coming, let's hear the call,
When you say Bud you've said it all.
When you say Bud you've said it all!
Ya da da da da da da da da da da
    (Here comes The King...!) "

Goodbye jingle. /me wiping a tear from my face.

Many Americans are choosing flavorful craft beers and think that the classics taste bland in comparison.
    and
It has recently also been challenged by craft beer, which is hugely popular with the millennial set.
    and
To "stop the free fall," the company has decided to double down and advertise only to millennials

So, in other words, your going to specifically advertise bland beer to millennials, who have chosen flavorful craft beer over bland beer because bland beer is bland.

    How's that workin' out? :grinning:

    Hmmm, tough choice:

    1) Awesome tasting craft beer or

    2) Budweiser also designed a can shaped like a bow-tie to attract millennials.
