Age BCBS for years then it will drastically switch. Still like BCBS fresh over Parabola anyways.

I dont see the point of aging bourbon barrel stouts. You are putting beer into a Hard Alcohol Barrel of course its going to boozy. If thats not what you are looking for then why are you even drinking it.

Love them both. I do prefer BCBS when it has a little age on it, though. About a year old is the sweet spot IMO.

Not every liquor barrel aged beer is boozy.

Most Bourbon Barrels aged beers create a boozy beer. As a generalization. They may vary in how Boozy they are

Because balance between different flavors in a beer is a thing?

So then my question is how long are you holding on to these BCBS so they become "balanced" I have done a side by side with 14' and 15' both still boozy and a stand alone 13'. How long are you holding on to them and considering them balance when the bourbon booziness drops off?

Probably depends on whoever you're talking to. I like booze and I think aging is a little silly so I just drink them whenever I want, but I can see the other side as well.

No, to your desired preference. The booze can be a compliment to the flavor profile if that's what you like. If you want it mellower and a little sweeter, or even more complex, age it longer. BCBS in particular holds up for a long time. Some people have some bottles from 2007 and say they are holding up great still...

The 15' is prob killer, but pales in comparison to the fresh bottle of pliny the younger I had last night

If you have ever had Uncle Jacobs fresh vs aged you will understand.

Fresh Jacobs is so good. 15 bcbs is drinking so well. Can't wait to taste it when it gets released.

    You answered your own question:

"Most Bourbon Barrels aged beers create a boozy beer. As a generalization. They may vary in how Boozy they are."

So, generally speaking, the longer you age a beer, the less boozy the contents will be. Some people like to see the progression in barrel aged beer when it is fresh, and when it has been aged a few years...and everywhere in between.

Haha interesting. I've admittedly not tried many vintages of either...mostly basing my opinion on recently sampled Parabola '15 and BCBS '14. Parabola was a real treat, but BCBS was pretty hard to get through tbh. Probably has to do with the fact that I'm not a fan of bourbon per se but like some restrained barrel character. BCBS was just too much for me in that regard I think.

Just picked up a 4pk of BCBS in Santa Monica, CA. Pm me is you want to get a pack. I'll let you know the location. I only saw a 4pk left on shelf, but owner had some in the back.

I just did a blind side by side of the two most recent batches. I came out with the opposite opinion. Parabola is overly bitter and and less decadent.
