Although I have traded before, it is safe to say I'm still riding with the trading training wheels on. I agreed a trade with a first timer and he agreed to ship first, but I am wondering what is standard procedure here? Do I ship once he gives me a tracking # or do I wait until I recieve the package? Or does this all just vary from trade to trade?
I've traded with a few first timers recently and I wait until I receive the box first just to be safe. Just let the person you are trading with know. Communication is key. Best of luck OP. Cheers!
Agree to let him know what you plan on doing but I always wait for the box to arrive. Being new, there is a better chance of something breaking plus & tracking number doesn't = a box actually getting to you
I've done it both ways, but it's more fun to wait and receive their box first to check out the extras, and then absolutely crush them with your return box. They might feel bad initially, like they didn't "do it right", but just let them know it's all good and all you ask is for them to pay it forward. It sets a good precedent for the mindset of sharing beer as opposed to treating it as a commodity.
On my first couple of trades, my shipments were received first, before my trading partner shipped his...no problem with me
