Forgive me for whining. I live in Chicago and we have some breweries who shall remain nameless who only sell bombers. They have some good stuff but paying $11-14 for 22 oz of a beer I may or may not like is frustrating. I'm new to beer, only been drinking it for about 8 years so I don't know the business side of it. Is this a common practice before a brewery expands and is able to bottle/can in packs?

It is common. With that being said, please send all your Pipeworks bombers to me and I will gladly pay you for your trouble:wink:

Haha I didn't even have to name them and you knew. If you can get me some New Glarus stuff we can talk.

I am actually an hour and a half from Chicago's Lincoln Park Binny's, so I make it there fairly often to grab a stash!

@jimmyfishkin I did hear that. Hopefully them Ninja vs Unicorn are 6 packs and not 4 packs.

Yeah I would guess 4 packs, but they may surprise us.

There are some insane bomber prices out there for sure. .As an example, and I won't mention any names (as the guess who game has been successful already in this thread...) but there's a Brown Ale with a reprehensible label that goes for like $14 and boasts an 82 rating on this site. Did I mention $14 for 22 ounces of mediocre Brown Ale??????

You should see some NYC bomber prices, Firestone BA's can go for about 30 bucks a pop retail. Always remember that buying the best beer is still way less expensive than buying the best wines or liquors.

Pipeworks rock. Have very few misses. Totally worth 10-15$ per bomber. I buy 1 each of all of there beers everythime they are delivered. Except the regular ones. Waiting for the cans on Ninja vs Unicorn.

So you can imagine what Pipeworks will cost when it gets here. At least it's not Philly prices. I got Double DBA last year in Philly for $25, and this year in NY for $16.

    .

I hate that people seem to not comprehend that. Stop comparing Craft Beer to "normal" beer prices. We can regularly drink world class beer for 10-30$ a bottle max.

The most ridiculous bottle price I've ever seen is Eclipse. Get away with that $40+ crap! Seriously isn't good enough to be more than half that price!

Go to the tap room. Find a beer you like and buy a growler. Growlers are usually cheaper than the bombers.

Pipeworks doesn't have a taproom yet and I don't even know if they plan to have one.Someone mention PWs has few to no misses but that's subjective. I recently went to 18th Street Brewery and they had some delicious stuff but it's so hard to get because they're so small and they're growing. I think if Pipeworks had a tap room all the hipsters in that hipster neighborhood would drink it all up before you could get a pour.
