I think we (mostly) all agree that we have breweries making beer that matches, or exceeds, the beers being brewed elsewhere in the country. Now, what breweries do we like, that don't get enough credit, even amongst us here in the NW? I'm a big fan of Silver City, and yet I can't remember the last time I saw them mentioned here in the forum. A few others that get a vote from me: Anacortes, Skookum, Flyers, North Fork, and Naked City.

    Yours?

Bend Brewing Company. Always a solid beer.

Off the top of my head, I come up with Icicle Brewing and Skagit River Brewery.

I almost put Skagit on my list, but their misses really miss. The stuff I like from them though, I think is awesome.

I'll second BBC and add Block 15 and Oakshire.

I'm a huge fan of BBC, but they weren't really what I was thinking of by "under the radar". While they don't get the chatter of say Fremont, Cascade, or DeGarde, they've been around a good long, while, and I think most of us have a good opinion of them. I am pleased to see them getting shout-outs though. All y'all best stay away from my damn Ching Chings and Lovely's though.

In addition to what's already been said, I'll add Georgetown for Lucille, Snoqualmie for Steam Train, and Old Schoolhouse and Two Beers for their fresh hop beers. And although they're not exactly "under the radar" breweries, I think Anchorage and Upright deserve more love than they get on here.

Sure, you can include Boneyard, I just think they're pretty widely talked about here on this board. For example, @woemad recently sent me some Iron Goat brews, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of them. And, my not listing Icicle in my OP was a gross mistake.:flushed:

I think folks take Breakside for granted, but maybe that's just me. (And I'm trying not to.)

Was at Icicle today - always solid.

I stopped at North Fork once on the way out of North Cascades - Yikes, thought it was pretty awful personally and I'm a sucker for shitty post-hike mountain breweries

Three Creeks, Worthy, and Sunriver. I've had beers from each that go toe-to-toe with the greats in their respective styles, no discernible buzz. Not sure how far each distributes, but I know each makes it at least to Portland. Non-homer example: seems like Commons seasonal/special releases would get their own threads if they were in any other part of the country.

I guess for me there are a lot ways to answer this question, none less or more correct, than the other answers. Width, breadth, one magical beer, hits versus misses, at home/staying local/traveling/going to a sporting event, lots of ways to cut this......

Silver City is ubiquitous for me but I still like them a lot. Making the beer for Seattle Beer Week is pretty cool. Like when you hear about some kid you watched for four years in high school get an athletic scholarship. Now someone else gets to see how special they are.

Chuckanut for what they are doing with German styles. Heater Allen in Oregon for the same reason. Sound Brewing for their spin on Belgian styles. Might as well throw pFriem in there. Georgetown for squeezing every drop out of the brewery capacity without sacrificing quality. Dick's fell under the radar when they moved from Seattle but they still crank out good beers. E9, Seven Seas, Propolis, Bale Breaker ........

I could probably add 10 more. And you know what is weird? If I included Seattle and Portland proper it would easily be another 50. I love ordering a beer and then finding out that it doesn't exist in the BA database or it has less than 10 reviews. And that happens a lot 'round here.

Old Schoolhouse falls under the radar, but if they were located in Ballard their IPA's would get tons of hype.

Thunder island brewing out of Cascade Locks, Or. They have a couple pale ales that are delicious and a very new sour program. Plus you can't beat the view after a day of hiking in the gorge.
