This delicious beer is coming to cans! This is awesome news for my belly and bad news for my wallet and liver! The Surly beer hall has had this on tap for some time much to my delight as well as plenty of other delicious beers including Mole Smoke which is just an outstanding beer.

The Axeman is going on cans!
We're sure that this is good news for the many American fans of the collaboration beer Amager Bryghus did with Surly Brewing last year "Todd - The Axe Man". For a while Surly has been doing their own version of this - but as a draft beer only.
However, since so many fans and friends have been craving this to be part of Surly's regular line-up....well there you have it.
We're sure that Surly Brewing Company can chime in with further info about an expected release date etc.
PS The Amager Bryghus version of "Todd The Axeman" will be released in both bottles and kegs in the US later in 2015.

I just had this for the first time yesterday and it's the best IPA I've had. Super excited about this!

I was disappointed with this beer.wayou to malty sweet. I'd prefer overrated if I wanted a hop bomb iPA. Lots of people love this beer though, so good for surly

Don't think it's going to be year round. A buddy who talked to Todd in person last month said he told him it would be a Summer seasonal and should be coming in cans late June/early July. Of course they could have changed their minds, but they have stated this is their most expensive beer they produce (costs them more than Abrasive), so might not be the most cost effective year round beer either. Regardless, this is some of the best news of the year. It's an amazing beer for sure!

Good point, perhaps wishful thinking on my part. Just took the "part of the regular lineup" as year round, really hope that's the case though! But your right, cost does play into it. Half Acre has been working for a number of years to secure enough of the hops (mosaic and nelson) to can Vallejo IPA, and it will become reality around the same time as Todd! Gotta love the Midwest for IPAs!

I really hope this isn't at the Abrasive/Blakkr price point. Coffee Bender range would be more like it.

From the comment about it being the most expensive beer for them to brew. I would not hold out hope so you aren't disappointed.

It is going to be priced alongside Abrasive from what I've heard. Even though it costs them more than Abrasive to produce.

Will not be buying $16 4-packs of Todd the Axe Man. Easy for me to say as it is not a favorite of mine. Abrasive is better.

For me, 25 cents an ounce in 2015 is a small price to pay for the best IPA ever brewed in the Upper Midwest. It's a special beer (assuming, of course, that the imbiber likes Citra/Mosaic hops, and not everybody does).
