Just because it's an IPA, doesn't make it "Craft"...or good

Dear god. What the f does being a liberal have anything to do with this. Another my opinion is the only correct one type of person. That is the problem with everything....not just craft beer.

I've been drinking and enjoying craft beer for almost ten years. I mostly drink IPA's, Stouts/Porters, and Belgian Style Saisons. I like my IPA's hoppy, but I prefer my Stouts/Porters and Saisons not to be hop forward. I find the availability of the lower hopped beers that I desire to be more than adequate. The reality is, there really isn't a problem finding non-hoppy beers...unless you make it one.

Simply to put it out there. Maybe it gets somebody thinking, like "hey, I bought a stout and it tastes super hoppy. That guy on BA was right"

I've heard the same, I think I remember reading that it hasn't been offered publicly for a number of years (and then, was limited). I don't remember reading about Night Stalker or Big John, but know that their more common stouts (Mudder etc) have nothing to do with the base of BCBS and are an entirely different recipe.

*sarcasm...it doesn't translate well into type.

It explains the close-mindedness for one thing. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like IPA's and OP I think you're a little too worked up about it, but you're right. Too many overly hoppy beers out there not enough appreciation for the subtle well made beers. But craft beer goes through trends it will come back around. Until then enjoy German beers and Belgian beers.

I offered an opinion that differs from almost everyone who replied here. I stand by what I said. I think you're misunderstanding of the phrase "close-minded" is a little off, sunshine.

Did I insult someone...other than all the IPA lovers here?

When see people enjoying hoppy beers and write it off as some kind of kooky cotton-mouth-loving mental defect, that's a pretty archetypal example of close-mindedness. 'Sunshine.'

The OP has directly contradicted himself a number of times, ie "I don't buy IPA's"/ "I don't like IPA's"/ "I like two IPA's"/ Rating Hopslam and Stone Green Tea IPA close to 4.5. Either the OP is trolling, or has an unsteady grasp of his own subject matter.

I would love to try this BA FIS you speak of. Where can I find it?

The OP's title is an obvious statement that no one disagrees with and opening rant is condescending in that he stipulates that some of us may actually like something that gives us cotton mouth while everyone else is just pretending to be cool. Ridiculous and strangely angry comments from someone who doesn't even drink IPAs.

First of all, how can I troll my own thread. Second, I don't like IPA. That doesn't mean I don't know a good beer. Third, this isn't about IPA. It's about hoppy every-other-style of beer. Again, refer to my original post. If it seems offensive to anyone, then you've clearly missed the point. Either that, or you're exactly who I mentioned in the post.

OK. All I can say is good luck with that. But I seriously doubt anyone on here has been drinking beer they don't like, just waiting for you to come along and tell them what they've been doing wrong all this time.
