i think double sunshine is better than SoS. however, for all i know, sean lawson would prefer DS to taste like SoS. or even he thinks they both taste exactly as they should. who knows?

is he held back by the water and equipment at two roads, or set free? do you know?

    I think thats pretty unanimous
    No, he wouldn't
Never asked that question, but he's very happy with how SoS is coming out.
I know people put way too much stock in the whole VT water thing, I also know its very hard to scale recipes up, and that hop contracts are generally the biggest constraint on anyone brewing IPAs on a large system.

Isn't it possible for a brewer to have a different taste than the general public? Sometimes making something marketable means shaving off a few ibu's and cutting costs. Not every beer has to annihilate your palate.

IMO SOS has changed from the beer it was when it was brewed in VT and in 22oz Bombers to the 16oz cans of today. It is not the same beer IMO. Like @sts9fan said it's good for 2 things trading and extras. Double Sunshine is worlds above IMO and Triple Sunshine is the top of the heap.

Sip was never brewed in Vt.

IMO Lawson's early stuff was much better before they sold out and released American Idiot, IMO.

Mass produced? I live in Vermont and never even seen a can of SOS. Maybe they should mass mass-produce.

I'm glad to hear you say this because in reading the posts in this thread and having had a recent canning of SoS in a decent sized IPA taste-off, it was absolutely stunning imho (not sure canning date, but was purchased in mid-April in Burlington). 2nd Fiddle was the only other brew to get a votes for best of show.

I wouldn't ever let what someone else says influence your thinking on a beer. Tons of people seem to love stuff that I don't find special and vice versa. If you like it then drink it and enjoy.

Do you mean Mass. produced? Because that would be lot better than that Conn. produced stuff!

This kind of post makes a lot of the posts in this thread really hard to take seriously. So much misinformed hipster in one post.

I've had SoS on draft in Vermont, the 22oz bomber, and the cans. I absolutely could tell a difference. I have gotten fresh cans of SoS multiple times and was looking forward to the amazing beer I had in the 22oz bomber. It simply wasn't the same every time. Good, but not the same. Unless you can tell me you've also had old VT draft, the old bomber and the cans and could compare directly as well then I don't see the point of your post.

I know Sean gets a chuckle outta this stuff, but generally too busy brewing beers that get snapped up the second they hit the shelves to pay much mind.:stuck_out_tongue: Carry on...

They were all made at Two Roads. It's only ever been made at Two Roads. It's just a wildly inconsistent beer (that and they were changing the recipe still at the time).

His point was that SOS has alway been brewed at Two Roads, and the guy was saying SOS was way better when it was brewed in VT, which as mentioned has never been the case.

I've have SOS in all its forms (draft/bombers/cans) many, many times and while it can vary from batch to batch I would say it has been a constantly top shelf dipa from day one to now.

EDIT: ^ he beat me to it.
