Turn both of those into zero canings and make those Axe Man instead.

As a frequent visitor to MSP, this is great news. Todd is my favorite MSP IPA and it will be great to be able to bring some cans home with me to Texas.

This excites me greatly. Todd might be the best beer I've ever had (very close to the best Psuedo Sue, probably better than the "worst" Psuedo Sue). I'm just hoping we get regular fresh distro in Iowa, as I'd imagine it falls off within a month or so.

Not surprised to see this is their most expensive beer - sounds like Citra hops are climbing through the roof. I doubt it will phase me though!

Surly said that Todd is their most expensive beer to produce, and TG seems to bitch about it too.

EDIT: looks like you've been very skeptical of TG's claim (can't blame you), but when other breweries are talking about how expensive citra beers are, it would seem to be legitimate. Unless you just want to bash on TG's social media presence. Which, again, I can't blame you for.

Saul, this was the post I was referencing on Surly. Not straight from them, I guess.

I'm curious about when this is actually happening too. Anybody heard anything?

I think Todd is expensive because of the volume of hops they use, Citra being one of them. Citra is an expensive hop, no doubt and prices have raised, but prices have not jumped from $11 to $18. Lots of breweries use Citra hops and somehow avoided this blindsiding 60% price increase in price per pound. If they did encounter such an increase, they've somehow managed to not pass this onto the consumer.

I agree, especially since the reference above mentions that it costs more than Abrasive which also uses citra. If the reference is accurate, it's the volume, not the hop.

Had this on tap at El Bait Shop in DSM. Was super solid. I've been very impressed with Surly. Have to put it up there with TG for Breweries in the area. I like 515 in Des Moines, but they aren't at the prod level Surly and TG are at.

As a whole entity, Surly is blowing either of them away, but they're older and more established too.

When it comes down to just straight good beer, they're all about equal with different strengths and weaknesses. I go back and forth between the Surly Wet from 2012 and the very best batches of Sue for my favorite beers of all time. I've never had a beer at 515 that was less than really good.

As someone who will tell anyone that asks that Abrasive is his favorite beverage, this is news that brings a tear to my eye. I took Mrs. O and Little O to The Mothership on Mother's Day, and Little O and I enjoyed multiple glasses of Todd. It is truly world class, on a level with Abrasive, Pseudo Sue, and the other "pantheon" APA/IPA/DIPA beverages we all enjoy.

It is on tap somewhere, that should tie you over for now.

I know, I know...It's been at the brewery since the new location opened. However, between taking clients out and going to dinner with the wife, it's pretty rare for me to go somewhere solely for a tap list. Therefore, from a pure selfish standpoint, I can hardly wait for cans to be released, so I can guzzle it in solitude at home.

Maybe see if you can have someone from Chicago, Iowa or Wisconsin send your a growler?

We really need to change the laws around BBL limit for breweries (Surly, Summit, Schells, ext...) to sell growlers and also allow bars to sell growlers here.

You don't need to lie to us about wives, clients, whatever. Just say you want to drink Todd in your undies on your couch. We get it. We're right there with ya.
