I was taken aback by the first Jammer I had. I think I was expecting something different.Once I realized what it wasn't, I was able to appreciate it for what it was. I think this is a great beer. There are many layers and subtleties to it. I am looking forward to enjoying this many times over the next several months.

    You're comparing apples and oranges.
These are 2 beers trying to be very different things.
Btw, I am a huge fan of both of these beers.

I'm loving the wave of gose in cans, although this one isn't as sour as others its still awesome

They are? I've not yet had Jammer, but looking at all the comments it seems like it shadows the flavor profile of Kirsch. Not super sour and not a lot of saltiness.....more "balanced" flavor. As soon as I see Jammer, I'll be buying it for sure.

Victory was obviously going for something brash. They wanted a beer that was puckering.
Sixpoint has a slight sour component but it is much more subtle.

Well I certainly wouldn't call Kirsch all that brash and puckering, especially compared to other top gose's like Westbrook and AV. For me it was way sweeter, less salty and way more balanced all around.....just like what Jammer sounds like it's striving for.

You don't need to slam people every time with belligerent and brutal onslaughts of flavor. Fucking relax, eh?

Less is more. Maximum flavor impact = conservation of resources & energy = ultimate expression.

Keep following this Jammer. Its a riff, you will love to see where this Gose... ;-)

Shane, was this a one batch release or will you guys keep brewing it. I'm going to the beer store today down here in SEPA to look for it.

Had my first last night and let me say I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I can really appreciate the way Sixpoint takes a style and just steers slightly off course. You get qualities true to the style with just a touch of their own originality. Love this and all their beers...

Keith, let me know if you find any. I have not had any luck so far.

    Cheers!

Seems like a beer I could take on a bike ride with me. Which I think is kind of the point here. Could it be better? Yes, of course. But if it was like Westbrook it'd be far too sour to be a refreshing and crushable beer, and if it was saltier it wouldn't work at all as a refreshment beverage.

It's good, not great, and I think that Sixpoint has a nice base here to work off of and improve.

A little too mild for me, but I did like it and I would buy it again for a beach/pool day where I'm drinking several in the sun.

Just for the hell of it I mixed 50:50 Kimmie Yink Holy Gose + Jammer and it was truly better than either on their own. I don't usually mix beers but this seemed like it might work nicely (and did).

So about 12 months ago, I was complaining here on the forum that no Gose's were available in my area. Westbrook and Lost Nation were the only 2 I was aware of and they very limited distribution and couldn't be found in mid-Atlantic area. Since then AV released 2 versions, my local Brewer's Alley released 1 late last summer, I just had the Victory Kirsch Cherry (quite awesome by the way), I've seen Weyerbacher on the shelf, which I plan to buy and now Sixpoint is releasing one. My wishes have truly been answered!

I had a can of the Jammer. It's indeed on the more subtle side and far less sour than the style is reported to have been traditionally. That said, the criticism here is a bit like someone getting a taco from a Mexican taco truck and complaining that it doesn't have the flavor intensity of a Doritos Locos taco from Taco Bell. Didn't take long at all for the Gose "style" to become Americanized....

Have you found German examples to be particularly subtle though? Personally I've found them to quite tart, not overwhelmingly sour like a Gueuze, but I don't have to search too far to find the dominating flavor.

    See my avatar.

That being said, the German ones still remain insanely drinkable, so I'm still not getting BLASTED with flavor. This is just a general comment, I haven't had Jammer yet, so I can't comment on that specific beer.

I edited my post to reflect just this. Yes, Jammer is far less sour than the more "traditional' versions. Still, I do find the ones from, say, Bayerischer Bahnhof to be fairly subtle...like a very mildly salty (and less estery) German Weizen. Westbrook Gose -- which seems to now be something of a U.S. "craft" benchmark for the style -- is very heavy-handed with its saltiness.

Any word on the availability of Jammer in the NWFL panhandle, specifically Pensacola?

its a summer seasonal...that being said most wholesalers are already sold out...

right on - we didn't start our brewery over 10 years ago to copy what other people were doing, we'd rather take things in a new direction

its around in your area...check the BeerFinder

    the new archetype...

and check in and see where that base (bass) leads you!

    interesting mixer!
