The highest price one of the specialty line so far was Earth & Flame, at $14.99. This won't be any more than that.

The GABF judges seemed to have a different opinion last year when it took a Gold.

I live ten mins from the brewery in D-town. A few bars around me are having Victory Tap Takeovers this month and the earliest I've seen with Sour Monkey on the list is May 23rd...so I expect it will be released fully anytime in the next few weeks. I'm buddies with a few of the brewers and office staff and from what they're telling me, this one is going to be really good. Much more sour than than Wild Devil was. Victory definitely had a track record of learning from their mistakes. Their first gose was atrocious but I think they nailed it with their Kirsch Gose. I'll report back when I finally get a taste. Cheers!

wild devil was brett only, no lactic acid bacteria. it wasn't supposed to be sour, only funky.

I know...referencing a comment from above to alleviate any impressions that this would be on par with Wild Devil.

When was the last time you tried WD? I had one shortly after it came out and decided to cellar two, which are still sitting. Not sure how much of a difference it will make, but I am hoping the funk gets dialed up. Would have like to have done the same with Enjoy After, but I sadly couldn't locate any.

About a month ago. I still have 3 sitting on my shelves also. The last time they brewed it I let it sit for at least 6 months, maybe longer and the brett definitely dialed up. Hopefully the same happens with the most recent batches.

I've definitely been on a sour kick lately so this pretty damn exciting!

I've been really excited to try their new gose as well, I've always thought cherry was the best fruit flavor to accompany any beer that's sour or even a bit tart and Victory has yet to disappoint me... Except Twelve ....but to be fair I have yet to try an American take on a dark Belgian beer that doesn't suck, so I hardly count it

Downingtown, PA, May 13, 2015- Victory Brewing Company (Victory) announces another first with the introduction of Sour Monkey, a deliciously puckering Belgian-style Tripel incorporating multiple fermentations via three different yeasts. Swinging from the same tree as its GABF Gold Medal award-winning cousin, Golden Monkey this deliciously sharp brew commands respect.

A result of the visionary enthusiasm of Victory Brewing Company’s brewers, Sour Monkey playfully tantalizes taste buds into a electrified frenzy by combining juicy Tettnang and Hallertrau whole flower hops with Pilsner malt and coriander seed before bringing in the fun and the funk of unique yeast varieties. With an ABV of 9.5%, Sour Monkey delivers a punch with the pure taste of Victory.

Available throughout Victory’s 36 state distribution footprint, Sour Monkey’s suggested retail price for a 750 ml bottle is approximately $9.00, but varies upon location. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

Rapidly rising in popularity within the craft beer market, sour ales fully leverage the different and sometimes temperamental fermentation patterns of non-standard yeasts like Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus. These yeasts are often treated like the unwanted guest at the brewing party due to volatility and lack of control they tend to bring. Depending on the recipe, fermentation control, and final blending within the brewing process, the results can lend themselves to exciting, savory nuances, which, by comparison, may be lacking in other craft beers.

“We’ve been researching and wanting to create a brew like Sour Monkey for a very long time, ” said Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “We feel a beer like this, putting an enormous twist on one of our most beloved brands, will open up another level of appreciation for the art of craft beer. We are really excited to share this unique brew with our fans and hope they are as proud to drink it as we are to have made it.”

Anyone else find Victory's Beerfinder app inconsistent? Feel like I can only rarely get it to work.
