Everybody seems to have missed the important part of @Marcus-GR's post.

The other important part (if we are all piling on him), is that he mistakenly bought aged BB instead of the fresh stuff.

Just curious why this was a mistake. I guess I made the same mistake. They had 2012 and 2014 on tap, and in a blind test I preferred the 2012. Drank one of my 2013 bottles the other night and found it damn tasty. Might be a mistake for you, but not everyone.

That's not true, the sought after DIPA's turn into straight up ca$h after a couple years! I'm basically sitting on $1,000 worth of Hopslam. Beer is really just an investment for me as I don't even like how it tastes. Look for lots of 2015 Hopslam being sold on craigslist in 2017 baby!

I'm just a sarcastic ass. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Some are just better than others

After watching the Brew Dogs/Founders infomercial, there's no doubt in my mind CBS was brewed this year to be featured on the show.

Disagree. I think CBS was made to mask the fact that Founder's is getting huge and people will always piss on that concept.....unless they have CBS to drink.

I drank CBS every day for a week straight (I live 2 miles from founders) and they can do no wrong in my eyes because of it.

You're right! For this I shall return my aged kbs from that week and start a daily protest outside!

I had the same thought that it was made for this brew dogs taping. I was at founders for the tasting and Martin was drinking it the whole time and raved about it on stage. However, given how frequent it has been available over the past few months I no longer think that was the case.

My thoughts on the various CBS releases (and others, Blushing Monk for example) is that Founders went through a challenging time about a year ago. They had to stop expanding into new markets because they were struggling to meet demand in the markets they were already in. They had just finished digesting an expansion and had to quickly start planning a new one. They were simply growing to fast and they still are. Their focus got away from the limited releases and who could blame them? But they seem to be getting a better handle on their growth challenges.

Just my opinion, but a lot of negative feedback from beer advocates seemed to reach a peak after the 2014 Black Party. There was a lot of criticism hurled at Founders after that event. I can't help but think that the barreling of CBS must have occurred shortly after that party. Not to mention they only had KBS for two or three days upon the 2014 release. I think the folks at Founders heard the criticism and decided to come out swinging their big ten inch CBS.

I was hoping CBS would have came back on at the brewery for American craft beer week. Although mostly hoping because my birthday is this weekend and that would be an amazing present.

Sadly it looks like they have a lot of events elsewhere and nothi spectacular happening at the brewery right now.

8 Tap Room only beers and A Sherry Cask Imperial Black IPA that was barrel aged 18 months and you claim nothing spectacular.

Referring to events... Besides their normal music nights nothing going on at the brewery right now.

What were the taproom only beers? Just curious because that in itself is nothing special. Most breweries produce many more taproom only beers than they do bottled beers.

Do you not have Google in Illinois? 19 beers on tap, 3 of which are barrel aged, 8 tap room only.

I am guessing that when I responded to JMorey, that the only thing that he would consider "spectacular" was CBS

Nope, we dont have Google. I was just asking because from your response, it doesn't sound like anything spactacular.
