Saw a commercial for this last night- anyone seen it/tried it? Never been a fan myself, but if the skunk's gone it might be worth a shot- Imagine it could be a bit of a bitch to cram the lime wedge into to opening though...

I saw the commercial and was confused about them billing it as new since I bought a case of cans back in like 2010 and they weren't even new at the time AFAIK. Maybe that was Pennsylvania thing (stupid case law), though. Anyway, it tasted the same and was more of a hassle to put limes in. The lime will cover up the skunk anyway.

I had the same reaction-coulda sworn I seemed to remember a thread about this once upon a time, before the Great Server Meltdown.

It's a waste of a perfectly good can

Heard there's a skunk roaming the brewing halls of the brewery.. Taste and smell is ingrained with it. Even sealed cans leak the pungent odor out.

I was confused too. I know for sure I had a 24 oz can during the Reds 2012 playoff game because it was the best "deal" ($8.50:slight_frown:) and I had 12 packs of cans at my local grocery store a couple of summers back. Apparently it was a select market deal.

Pretty much if they can get a million people believing something is "new", they have won out. False advertising or consumer advocacy doesn't really seem to exist.

They may have had cans before, But it wasn't a part of some marketing scheme.. Now that it is, it's considered "new". I think we are all more aware of Beer based changes. But it does happen in other food based genres

Some people are hating on Corona in general, not sure why, if you dont like it then dont have it. Im on the boat with the slogan "if you like it, enjoy", no one is forcing anyone to get Corona cans. With some salt and lime, that Corona is delicious any time of the year, even better during a hot CA day.

was at the local HEB last week and a rep was giving out taste and I tried it, granted I haven't had corona in almost 8 years, but I thought it wasn't bad. The secret was that it was ice cold. If it is available in Florida in cans I would grab a 6r and test out my daughter's new Yeti portable cooler.

The metallic taste of the can might make it slightly more drinkable.

First time I saw people adding lime to Mexican beer was in the '70's when I lived in L.A. - a decade before the explosion of Corona in the US. The beer used was typical a canned Mexican beer, usually Tecate but also the old Tres Equis (when it was the brewery's light lager and Dos Equis was their amber beer), the lime was squeezed into the much smaller can opening of that era and/or simply onto the top the can (and salted, as well, by some) - sometimes the edge of the opening was used a "knife" to slice off the lime 'meat' from the rind, which then fell into the beer.

When Corona in bottles became popular in the US in the 1980's and I saw people adding the lime slice to the bottle, I thought, "Man, that's weird..."

IMO...it's tastes better out of the bottle. For what it's worth...

Certainly not a new thing. I remember buying Corona in cans back in 2008 for a trip we were going on. From what I remember it did taste a bit better from the can.

They change from slim cans to normal cans, that's my understanding of the change.
