Recently found out my ex-wife never drank up all of our old beer cellar. She let me take the remaining bottles that she had not drank. So first up last night was an early Vemonster by Rock Art, bottled in April '08 and a March 2008 (batch #2) Ommegeddon from Ommegang. Didn't have a lot of hope for any...so both shocked me. Neither showed little if not any signs of oxidation and the mouthfeel in the Omeggedon had the creaminess I associate with a wine that has been aged sur lie. Very impressive start!
Still have lots of old SN Bigfoots, Brooklyn black chocolate stouts, & Monster Ales, Unibrioue 15, 16 & 17, Stone Epics & Old Guardians, several homebrewers RIS's from a couple years among other randoms. Should be a fun adventure, hoping for more success stories like last night. Figured I'd post on here as I went through them.

Thanks for posting this. Usually ex-wife stories are not this positive. Enjoy the beer and keep the stories coming.

I'm an old fogie I think cause I still haven't figured out how to post photos. I set up an account on some photo website to create an website s few years ago...but it didn't work, so I gave up on ever posting photos on BA.

Only got to sample one more this weekend as other obligations kept me side tracked. So popped a bottle of Otter Creek's Quercus Vitis Humulus: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/119/53766/
Purchase date was Nov '09, but no signs of brew date on the bottle. I remember not being all that impressed with this beer fresh, so was definitely interested to see how 5.5 years treated it. On the plus side, yet another beer with little to no signs of oxidation. This fact is definitely impressing me...on the down side, the beer is still a bit of a muddled mess. A lot going on with a sweet lingering grape skin like flavor that coats the palate in a way that I didn't love...but wasn't bad per say. Only a slightest hint of oak, but the beer at 12% was well contained overall, with a nice malt profile hitting my palate initially. Would give it a 3.5 overall.
