I'm gonna say it... New Glarus R&D Wild Bitter is now a shelf turd.

Wouldn't mind A bottle if anyone has a spare.

Not a shelf turd if you have to go get it at the brewery

I meant that more tongue in cheek than anything since there's just a pile of it still available.

Yeah, but you can't say shelf turd. It diminishes the trade value!

I think I'd get some more if I was going to the brewery, but not sure yet if I'd make a special trip for it. It's good, but I'm not sure it's something that I'll ever have a craving for.

I expect the same for the June and October releases. As long as they impose a 2 bottle limit per day and only a certain number to be sold each day, they should last past the initial weekend (dependent on overall number of bottles).

GTMW is a different story since so many people are in Madison just for beer that weekend.

They could always just go the TG route and sell it by the case until gone. LOL

I agree that it will likely be the same for the rest of the releases...unless it's something fruited or a geuze. People go nuts for both of those things, and if it's any indication of the madness that was the King Sue release on a Tuesday (since it barely made it to the evening), even a two-bottle limit won't be enough to keep it past the initial weekend (if the King limit had been less, it still probably wouldn't have made the weekend). Plus, if it's something "exciting," the amount of mules and other methods of cheating the system will increase exponentially.

I agree with some of your points to an extent. But for sake of argument if Dan were to release another batch of VSB in October, you're saying it would last past the weekend (assuming 4500 bottles or so & 2 pp)? I respectfully disagree. People would be coming from all corners and the farther people have to drive, the more likely they'll bring mules to make the trip "worth their while".

I consider it part of the third law of beer trading. Pre-release hype = f(bottle count + reviews (real or imagined) + previous brewery releases trading experiences). As Pre-release hype increases, the lure of bottle flippers increases proportionally. This lure can be slightly impacted by logistics (i.e., ticket sales, bottle allocations) and geographic considerations. However, the impact of allocations or great distance is itself offset by the use of mules or in some desparate instances the change of costume maneuver. The manifestation of the law can then result in an instagram photo followed soon thereafter by several FT:ISO posts, typically of the auction variety.

Another thing that really helps is that sales are only available from 10-4 daily. TG is open 12-8,9,11PM.

Should I be able to grab some tomorrow? Wasn't able to make it last weekend and happen to be in Madison this weekend.

Shouldn't be a problem, unless there was one heck of a run yesterday. On Wednesday, there was a stack of cases 10x3x5.

Overheard in the depot: Wild Bitter "brewed with orange juice". This was news to me-- not mentioned on the label, nor had I read it anywhere in this thread.

There is this much left with the 2 bottle limit.

That might not even be all of it. I'll probably just buy a few to trade for whalez bro when I'm there for the GTotMW release.

Thanks for the pic of the depot, I feel fairly confident that I have a chance to grab a couple bottles when I visit in two weeks...

I really enjoyed this beer and will not age it because I like how the hops add to the flavor. Not going to buy anymore at $10/500ml. If it was a 4/pk I would pick up another.
