What do you guys think of the Bruery beers? Are they worth the price tag? I've seen a few that looked interesting but it is hard to justify spending $20+ on a 750ml without ever having the beer before.

Overall they are an excellent brewery if the style is one that you enjoy, try it.

Are all over-priced. I'd love to say over-rated, but they're not.

Their beers (Barrel Aged & Wild Ales) are just not fantastic enough to match the prices they ask for them...

Fresh BOIS was the closest barrel aged beer they've offered that matched the price, for me at least. To each their own I guess....

To add....if your income is disposeable, price obviously isn't a factor, or a second thought.

Expensive, but I haven't had one yet that I didn't like. The sours are really pricey, but Rueuze and Oude Tart are some of the best around. In my opinion they're right up there with RR sours, and are much easier to get.

I'd say no, but I might be in the minority here, so take my opinion with a grain of salt (as always). I've never been a fan of their beers, even if we ignore the price tag. Having said that, many of their beers (GM, BT, MW, the Melange series, their anniversary beers, etc) are the sort of thing I would only want a few ounces of. Even aside from the abv, they're over the top sweet and boozy. So my advice is to split a bottle between a whole bunch of people; everybody gets a satisfying sample without breaking the bank or going into a diabetic coma.

The anniversary beer is awesome but at 30-35 a bottle its hard to justify buying. Maybe for a special occasion

I love The Bruery. I've got about 50-60 Bruery beers in my cellar, and they're all considered special occasion bottles. I think I've cracked bottles like Saison de Lente or Autumn Maple and finished them in one sitting, but pretty much all the RS/HS stuff requires (IMHO) at least one other person with whom to imbibe. That doesn't make them any less delicious. I just consume them with less regularity.

They make for good trade bait too! And I'm not diabetic or anything...yet.

Usually they're good so if a style/description appeals to you, it can be worth the price. They are expensive and do live up to that most of the time. If you ever get a chance to hit up the tap room it is amazing, much better way to get to try a lot of their beers without spending a fortune.

Expensive enough to only have on a special occasion. Good enough for the occasion.

I love their beers but do find them on the expensive side. That being said, I will splurge on their beers, especially their sours.

I find myself in the position where the price has kept me from trying them so it's impossible for me to judge.

Maybe this thread will convince me they are worth a shot...

Their stouts are Really sweet and boozy. Their Sours are excellent too. And yes expensive. Trading for them is how I get most of mine so cost is somewhat irrelevant. And yes definitely go in on a bottle with a few ppl.

If I lived farther away and couldn't go to the tasting room I would consider it "special occasion" beers. I've never been disappointed by their beers. It can be pricey, but they are 750 ml. If you work out the math 25-30 for a well aged sour or aged beer isn't that bad.

Big ass bottles of something I usually only want 8 oz's of in the first place.

That doesn't mean its overpriced...just the format is impractical for me (as I don't often seem to split bottles with people too often).

I use champagne bottle caps that clamp on the top and you can make the beer last quite awhile.

They do some fantastic beers, and are generally pretty innovative with their ideas ...once you can get over the sticker shock of the prices, your taste buds will thank you!
