Now for my second installment of NBS.

    MO by Maine beer co.

My first from this brewery and definitely not my last.

Nice creamy, billowing head that lingers upon a slightly vigorous pour.

Smell is of oranges and a yeasty bitterness. Maybe some grapefruit.

Taste is tropical and citrusy. Nice and crisp with a good balance of hop bitterness and sweet bready malts.

    Good, easy drinking pale ale.

Very late post, but just got to the ol' computer...Great job by @Greywulfken running NBS today. At the Museum of Man in San Diego, they have a beer exhibit with tastings, they have beer mugs and pottery from the Sumerian period on display and we always toast to Ninkasi. Thanks for geeking out.

New Imperial Stout Aged in Tequila Barrels Sunday
    Prairie Ok-Si 12%ABV

Poured a very dark brown(by the window, away from daylight it looked almost black) with a tiny tan top. I can smell the tequila and was a bit concerned as I don't have a lot of Tequila aged beers. First sip, Chocolate very present, a touch of vanilla and roasted coffee that slowly fades into a bit of tart-like tequila flavor. The agave is definitely there, especially as you get towards the bottom, but it doesn't take over the deliciousness of the stout, it simply just adds to it. I like tequila, especially aƱejo, but almost never think it would fit well in a imperial stout, but I think this opened my mind. While this is not as good as the Apple Brandy version, it is worth trying.

    Cheers!

    Bottled on 1/14/14 BB 1/14/19

Extremely lively carbonation takes several pours to get it in the glass. big white foaming head sits on top of the dark yellow liquid.
Smells of sweet malts and pears. Taste is of spices and pears with a touch of white grapes.
Feel is highly carbonated that dances across the palate but ends dry with a slightly wine after taste.

This is the start of my resolution for the summer to get a better baseline understanding of the classic Belgian beers . Orval is certainly not bad but not sure if I will return to it very often. I am certainly glad to have it under my belt however as far as beers I have experienced.

Round Guys - Sundown Saison (w/photobomb by Tom)

I was actually surprised by this one, hot and muggy outside so I reached for something lighter. This was more of a slightly tart saison, quite refreshing at the time and I would drink again if I had the chance.

    Cheers!

It's been a while since I've had a new beer on a Sunday. Tonight's new beer is Deep Ellum IPA from Dallas, TX. This came in a generous box of beer from @Rootscipio

The aroma is mostly citrus and pine. I also get some sweet malt, like fresh bread underneath it. The taste is a lot of apricot, pine, peach, and grapefruit. The malt goes side by side and in the end, it is a very well balanced IPA. The carbonation is spot on, right where I like it. I would certainly drink this again!

Yep your description is spot on to me. Definitely one of Texas better IPA's. (well at least the ones I have tried) I Hope it is going well with the pizza.

Well, I tried soo many awesome beers yesterday that I wasn't sure I was going to get to one today. But, the more I gandered at some of these fine postings, and the more I thought about disappointing Ninkasi (which I rarely do ), I figured something fermented better cross the threshold of my pie hole, so...

Samuel Adam's Rebel Rider IPA (session)
Pours a straw colored clear swirl of bubbles that give a light, thin foamy head that quickly settles. Smell hints at floral citrus (lemon tree?), maybe some pine and a hint of pepper. In the mouth, it's lite. The hops barely come through, more earthy than citrusy. It's like a Kolsch that's been a hopped in the direction of an IPA. Finish is much the same. Lite, crisp, and a tad of hop character. Not too impressed. Not bad, just nothing distinct here. But, sessionable, yes.

So I was planning on reviewing another beer here today, and that was almost Stone Pale Ale 2.0. But, I think my example is off a little. Aroma is weak and smells slightly like a cleaner. Taste seems ok, but I hope it isn't supposed to be like this. Highly bitter without a whole ton of flavor. If I rated it as is it would get a terrible rating, but I can't help but think that this isn't what Stone intended. Here's to hoping next time I try it, it is more what I think it should be (and I'm really missing 1.0 of this and Ruination right now).

    Cheers!

I decided to have a 2nd new beer today!! This one is a local beer called Akari Shogun from Half Acre. It is absolutely what the style reads "pale wheat ale" The aroma is citrus and grass and wheat. Lot of lemon and maybe some orange resting on a bed of fresh grass in a wheat field. The taste follows suit with a nice bit of bitterness and I could see this being a very refreshing beer on a hot day.

I am thankful every day for the wonderful relationship that my son and daughter have. Uncle Will is that cool guy that no one could imagine or invent. And he's my boy being wonderful to my girl and her boys. Nothing more needed for me!
