Anyone had this years batch yet? Bought a 4 pack this weekend and it is not very enjoyable. I loved last years.

Anyone know if the recipe changed or if there were different hops used? This batch is almost flavorless and Ive talked to some of my friends who thought the same thing.

Had it shortly after it was released and really liked it. Actually, thought it was better than last years, as the alcohol seems to be a bit toned down.

All I remember from the last batch is that it had a killer nose. This batch does not. I was disappointed as well, however I wont have trouble drinking the remaining cans I have.

While this doesn't live up to the nose on last years, I'm still really enjoying it. I think the balance is about right.

I enjoyed it, but agree it's not what I remember from the past few years.

I'm slippin'! Sorry I didn't get on this earlier - been really busy lately with non-internet things.

This year's batch of Half IPA is a little different than last year's. Firstly, we used Mandarina Bavaria in the whirlpool instead of Goldings. Secondly, this year's batch of Simcoe seems to be much fruitier than last year's, which was more catty.

We think this year's version is brighter and more balanced, while last year's was danker and more intense. We actually have another batch of Half IPA in tank right now. Maybe we'll just up the dry hop this time around and try for the best of both worlds.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Hello again!

I talked with our brewing staff about the comments from this thread and everyone agreed that this year's batch is noticeably different than last year's. But we're really happy with the changes and have gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback from our tasting room visitors, so we decided to keep the recipe the same for Batch #2. Since I mentioned we might be tweaking the recipe, I wanted to give y'all an update to prevent any additional letdowns.

Even though we're not changing the recipe, I'm still very appreciative of the feedback. I hope you'll continue to let us know what you think about our beers. And, on my end, I'll give you advance notice of any major recipe tweaks in the future.

    Thanks again!
