I have a fairly outgoing personality, but I prefer to drink at home.

Same here. I would say I am a mix of an introvert and extrovert. Most people who know me would say I am very outgoing, but as I get older I find that I would prefer to hang out at home with a good beer rather than going out for one.

My ideal session is a quiet evening at home, with a few close friends or family, having a few and playing some video games.

I also have a few with my girlfriend on weekends while we watch a movie.

    Yep, I'm a geeky introvert.

When I was younger I would never drink at home alone. Now I'm not young and enjoy both home drinking and going out. It's much more expensive to go out and drink in my area, transportation being the main concern and cost.

I wish I lived in an area more like my favorite vacation spot, Brugge Belgium. I've been there 14 times and have never rented a car. We walk everywhere or take a train or taxi. Its a beer drinkers paradise.

I do have a couple of local bars that I go to when I have the chance, but I have two young kids. Most of the time I am drinking beer after they go to bed, relaxing on the porch.

Introvert. Love drinking at home with the wife (she doesn't drink much but will try a bit of anything) and our new baby. It's not that I'm against drinking with a wide friend circle, it's just I don't have any friends big into craft beer and don't have a lot of time or interest in cultivating friends.

I enjoy going to a bar or taproom on occasion and just hanging with my own thoughts or reading a magazine/book. Doesn't bother me in the slightest to not have someone to talk to.

what a great thread. Definitely an introvert. Although, I will go to a bar with friends,
    but never alone.

My idea of a good time is a good beer, a book, or a foreign movie.

An additional question to this forum- do you find that you are more introverted because you aren't interested
in group small talk- and that most conversations in groups aren't interesting?

That's why I would rather be home- quiet- and usually with a beer.

I never go to bars or go out and drink. I prefer to stay at home, sit on the deck ( most of the time until very early a.m. ) and drink all night. I will give people suggestions or talk about beer in general to fellow people in the liquor store. But I like to drink alone or with less than 3 people at a time. Never been a people person anyways.

I'd say I'm more introverted. I prefer a small group of friends and just kicking it over a big, loud, crowded scene. The big party can be fun every now and again, but I like the other most of the time.

Introvert. In large part due to the fact that I don't have many close friends in to craft beer; I'd just annoy them if I try to talk ABOUT the beer while I drink it. Also, I tend to be more of an introvert with all things.

Helps that the GF is in to it. We hit beer bars together and enjoy drinking the good stuff at home together.

Can do both. Sadly no place worth a damn for 40 miles, so; 98% introvert these days.

Introvert for sure. Lots of clean glass, beers of my choice, music of my liking, clean toilets with no lines, and a porch with the atmosphere for relaxing and drinking.

Introvert. When out with a group I tend to not appreciate the beers I am having as much.

Don't like bars, plus I usually go to the dark place when I drink. So yeah, I usually fly solo when it's beer time.

Per the OP parameters, a bit more of an extrovert, mainly because it actually offers the ability to try a larger variety of different beers (tastes are awesome). Actually, dinner is often involved, and there is less cleanup.

How can you spot an extrovert engineer? He looks at the women's shoes when making conversation!

For me it depends. I like staying home by myself when I have a special beer I want to drink or I want to write a review. But I really enjoy going to a bar, even alone, cause I almost always drink a good beer I may have never tried or almost always meet an interesting person or have a interesting conversation.

I have some favorite places I like to go just because the people who work there actually give a shit, know their beer, and provide some very good conversation. There are also like minded people drinking there as well and I have made a few good friends as a result. But due to the fact that I do not want a DUI, I only go if the wife accompanies me so I have a DD. Either that or I use Uber. Otherwise I am a stay at home drinker. So extrovert by nature, but introvert by means of self preservation, i.e. not going to jail and losing my job!
