Went to modern times today too. Oneida was amazing, got a 4pk of it. Wasn't a fan of the DIPA but only had a taster of it. Good times.

So I'm kind of torn. I was fortunate to be able to purchase one each of the BBA MP (coconut, coffee, and regular) back in March. Unfortunately I hadn't been able to make it down to SD until today, which was SOOO much fun with the holiday traffic. When I gave them my ID I was told that due to some "problem" they were out of bottles of the BBA MP coffee. This doesn't make any sense to me since my order was confirmed and I hadn't been told there was an issue at any time until I drove all the way down there. That being said, the woman helping me did give me a bottle of the unreleased MP Nicaraguan BA Rum in place of the coffee.

So again, I'm torn. On one hand, I'm annoyed that something I purchased is somehow now unavailable and I was not told about it until I got down there. BBA coffee stouts are hands down my favorite beers and I'm bummed I don't get to try out MT's version. On the other hand they did give me an unreleased beer in its place instead of just refunding my CC and telling me I as SOL.

Damn that's badass in one way, in the other sucks. Drank my coffee bottle last night and it was great.

I'll probably be skipping future BA Monster's Park releases. Managed to get all three of the last release, have had two (BA and Coconut/Cacao) and wasn't especially impressed with either of them. Had a Parabola the same night that I had the BA and they aren't in the same class.

My favorite beer from MT continues to be the non-BA Monster's Park

Planning on picking up my BA Monsters Park bottles tomorrow - just called the brewery & was told coffee was accidentally routed to a distribution center and is not available. Theyre offering the Nicaraguan Rum as a substitute or a $28 gift card. Asked if I could pickup the coffee when it comes back, was told it will not be available.

I understand shit happens, but why no email or post from MT about this, and why can't I pick up the coffee bottle when it does come in, assuming it was just a logistical error & the beer was mistakenly routed somewhere.

Looking forward to the coconut variant, but I do love BA coffee stouts.

Sincere apologies for this. We discovered, after it was too late, that some cases of Monsters' Park Aged in Bourbon Barrels w/ Coffee had been sent out for distribution in error. When we reconciled inventories this morning, we discovered what happened. Only a handful of people haven't picked up their bottles yet, so this shouldn't effect many people. Nonetheless, I feel very badly about it. Substituting the Rum Barrel-Aged version was the best solution I could think of, in addition to the option of a gift card. I assure you that the bottle you have is every bit the equal of the one you purchased, but I'm sincerely sorry about it. Shoot me a message, and I will find a way to get you a taste of the bourbon version, since we still have a few kegs left.

    Cheers & thanks,

The cases have already been sent out, and there is no way to bring them back. The reason there was not an email is that this effects a very small number of people. But I am always accessible and happy to work with you to find a solution that works best. Just shoot me a message.

    Cheers & thanks,

Gotcha. Thanks for the response. The other variant sounds like a reasonable substitution, given the situation. If there's a way to get a pour of the coffee at some point (not sure when you plan on tapping it), that would be pretty great. Had the last one & loved the taste, was looking forward to see the progress.

    Cheers

I can't remember what I saw, but I think there's supposed to be like 5 different rum variants? I could be wrong.

I put things like this in the category of "shit happens." It wasn't intentional and they made it right the best way they could. I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep over it if it were me.

I picked up my bottles yesterday as well, and as she was explaining to me what happened and my options I honestly wasn't that disappointed at all. She seemed very relieved that I was fine with having the rum barrel aged version, which leads me to think people got all bent out of shape about it. I've worked in the service industry for 10 years and things happen outside of your control, and offering patrons a beer that hasn't been released and not many people have tried is more than enough... Most places would just offer a refund, not go out of their way to offer something as interesting as the rum barrel version. @ModernTimesJacob thank you for giving us a chance to try an unreleased beer, that's pretty rad, I would still like to try the BBA Monster's Park with Coffee in the future though, I just don't go down to SD often. haha

Totally agree. Bummed that I won't get to try the BA coffee but stoked to get the opportunity to try the new rum barrel version. Pretty nice of them to offer up the substitution.

By the way, I'm super excited to see the other rum barrel beers come up for sale... I'm a HUGE fan of rum barrel aged beers.
