Just stopped by a liquor store I frequent. Guy told me 3F Intense Red was a highly sought after beer and he just got some in with a Cantillon shipment. Not being a sour lover myself I paid 24 for it purely for trading purposes. After doing a forum search realized no one is looking for this beer in their ISO's. Has anyone traded theirs for anything of any consequence? I've been a salesperson for over 20 years and I feel like I just got sold, little embarrassed here!

It's alright. Not as good as many drie bottles. You can probably trade it for locals, but $24 is high. Usually more in the $17-$20 range.

So you only bought this beer to trade? then was disappointed when you find out it isn't as highly sought after as described. I guess the only thing left to do is drink it.

Growing up, my dad's family interacted with one another in a generally sarcastic and cutting way. Of course, I didn't fully appreciate this brand of humor in my formative years; in fact, I was probably a little bit on the sensitive side. To help me along, my dad told me that he'd "translate" for me, offering to shoot me a sign language 'j' when he thought I might not know someone was merely having some fun at my expense. It paid off over the years, and by the time I hit adolescence, I could keep pace with the best of them. Except great uncle Hans, but I digress.

Anyway, I like to imagine that OP is shooting a casual 'j' our way. At least I hope.

Edit: Intense Red is also pretty good. If you like fruited lambic, drinking it will be worth it.

I bought a couple of these for $17 each a few weeks ago. Not bad, but not as good as their other offerings.

It's a good beer, but I think many times people prefer the regular kriek which is cheaper and has better availability. That being said, a local store got a case last week and don't think it lasted a day at $19 per bottle.

Thanks all! Looks like I'll plan on drinking it. Hope my palette has grown more sophisticated so as to appreciate a sour more than I have in the past.

If you don't want it, put it up for trade. Someone will want it and you can get locals or maybe even semi-limited beer $4$. Or share it with someone. Or drink it.

Honestly throw it in the cellar, I'm sure a few years down the road your palate will have changed and you may be more into what a sour has to offer. If not, the trade value can only go up right?

You probably could have traded the Cantillon pretty easily.

It's a decent beer to expand with though you won't necessarily get $4$ given that yours is priced high. Intense Red is $20 locally & I like it a lot. I'd be open to expanding for it in a trade because that's a $20 beer I then don't have to buy.

Extra it to one of your regular trading partners?
