For a 2nd consecutive year, this low-gluten IPL returns to shelves across Michigan for a limited time! Try it, you won't be disappointed.

    Alien Einstein
is a light bodied India Style Pale Lager with a dull golden color and an inviting aroma of tangy grapefruit juice. A bright burst of fruity and earthy hop flavors immediately hits the palate. This beer exemplifies the well-rounded versatility of the American Mosaic hops used exclusively in this beer.

    5.5% ABV
    75 IBU

Loved this one last year. Happy to see it back again!
*edit, I see there's no mention of "low gluten" on the label. Did Short's get shit for that last year?

Can you define "low gluten"? Is it 20 PPM or under to be considered gluten free? I assume not but do you know how many PPM (parts per million) to say "low".

Picked some up at the brewpub last weekend. Was definitely the highlight of the show for me that day. Excellent beer.

I just came here to say... I have Superfluid today.
Thanks, Short's. Only one of the best beers I've had. Wow.

I really enjoy Shorts' IPA, PAs, DIPAs but I've always wondered why almost every Shorts limited release hoppy beer has a similar bitter flavor on the finish. Bonafide Legit, Pink Skirt, Kind Ale, even slightly with Superfluid. It's hard to describe the flavor exactly but it is almost a lager-like bitter malt/caramel taste. Maybe even burnt popcorn? Ami I crazy? Anyone else notice this with Shorts?

I saw the same comment in a recent thread, but I've never experienced what you describe, and I have had at least a 6-pack of everything that Short's has ever released that is hoppy. I think this brewery works magic with their hops combinations.

I agree with mothegoose. I've had bottles and draft of every release, and I haven't experienced it. And I agree, their ipa's are amazing. Personally I think they make the best ipa's in the state and it isn't even close.

Had an Alien yesterday. I love Shorts, but, this one wasn't a favorite. Maybe just too "light" for me damaged taste buds from so many killer single and double IPA's.

Maybe it is the lack of malt sweetness which lends to a very assertive and bitter hop finish. Don't get me wrong, I think Short's is awesome and anytime I travel through MI I stop at Hardings in Kalamazoo to pick up a sixer or two, but I'm always amazed at the similar flavor/aroma/mouthfeel of their hoppy beers. Almost like a savory hop type of finish vs the standard sweetness that you get from other breweries (3Floyds, Lagunitas, etc...). I'm drinking a Superfluid right now and trying to pinpoint the specific taste. I wonder if Short's uses something similar across the board for the IPA/PAs like a specific strain of yeast, hops, or malt. It reminds me of salted grapefruit rind or superconcentrated lager flavor like Founders Dissenter - hits on the back and sides of the tongue. I'm stumped. Guess I'll have to keep drinking more to research. Dan's Pink Skirt is up next!
