    A pricey purchase here on LI, coming in at $25 for the bottle (and it's not even barrel-aged :grimacing:)...

    Two songs have been alternating in my head ever since I bought the bottle...



    The first sip told me all I needed to know...

    Fucking awesome. The hazelnuts, anise, and cocoa nibs are impeccably blended and rendered - a full-feeling and rich stout, bringing all those flavors to the fore, along with undertones of sweet, creamy coffee. Absolutely worth the price.

    In other news: Weird day in history today, as it marks the day that Christopher Reeve (the Superman of my generation) suffered a cervical spine injury, and became paralyzed from the neck down. The accident occurred shortly after he made the HBO movie, Above Suspicion, in which he played a paralyzed police officer. The movie aired May 25th, 1995. Christopher's injury occurred two days later, on May 27th...

    During a particularly bleak time, while Reeve was awaiting a surgery to attempt to reattach his skull to his spine, a doctor burst into the ICU, and with a thick Russian accent, announced that he was a proctologist and would administer the rectal exam. The "doctor" was Robin Williams, and Reeve is quoted as saying it was the first time he laughed since the injury, and the first time he knew that everything was going to be okay...

    Ever p*ss a VP off on the phone so much that they hung up you? If you haven't, BeerMail me for pointers, seems I found a newly discovered talent! (!! :astonished::confused: !!) 'Bought this today with plans of cellaring it but after the phone convo on the way home this evening I figured an 18% beer might be a good choice. :rolling_eyes:



    And notice the shark fin is sticking outta the water ... coincidence?? :grimacing:

    Had this about a year ago in 22 oz format and remember not really enjoying it (pretty sure it was an old bottle). Glad I'm getting the chance to try it again because I'm really enjoying it this time around. Never had anything else from them, but wouldn't hesitate.
