Who hates to order a Guinness and have it brought to you poured incorrectly? At Buffalo Wild Wings and I saw a waitress bringing a Guinness to a person that was not poured correclty and it was not settled. Whobout there wants to yell at the bartender when watching them pour it from the tap incorrect?

To be honest, if you want a correctly poured Guinness, dont order one from BWW.

Most of the time, im perfectly ok with any pour i get.
The only time I would worry about a pour is when the draft is expensive, rare, or a unique beer.

Only other issue I have is with faux pints (which i almost always let slide) or mega huge heads.

I only get irked when its at a so-called "Irish Pub". If you call yourself that, you better damn well pour the Guinness correctly.

I don't care what anyone else here says about Guinness, one of my versions of beer nirvana is a perfect pint of Guinness at a vibrant Irish Pub with a good band playing in the background. Doesn't get much better than that.

I wouldn't even order a stout at BWW. Doesn't really go with the wings very well.

Racer 5 is my go to at BWW. Its amazing always, but spicy wings make it pop really nice.

You should just know where and where not to order a Guinness from. It's just one of those "things."

    I'm pretty much the same.

When I'm going out somewhere I'm conscious of how they're going to treat the pour. Doesn't surprise me that BWW didn't pour well. Just gotta be smart when ordering. Though, I'm guessing the person in OP's story who that beer was for isn't the kind of person to go discussing it on the internet.

I think I'd only really say something if it was a beer for me, or someone I ordered for.

Is there a unique way to pour Guinness that I don't know about?

It takes 90 seconds to pour a Guinness correctly

The method I've seen is that they pour about 2/3 of the beer and let it "settle" completely, which takes a minute or two. Then topped off and served.

But is part of the appeal for non-BA's to watch the settling process?

It's a part of it for everyone. There's a reason why there's an appearance grading on here for beers. Presentation matters.

Who doesn't hate to have a Guinness poured incorrectly? If one doesn't get a proper pour with Guinness it should be sent back. That has always been the case in my experience. And to no shame of the customer. That isn't a craft beer thing. That is a anyone who has ever seen a beer thing. It is a tough pour though, with the nitro and all.:astonished:

Huh. I guess I'd be bummed out if I ordered a Guinness (not that I typically would for the prices it goes at) and I didn't get to see that cool cascade effect.

The guinness pour is a simple marketing gimmick meant to make their beer seem more special and unique than others on the market. It doesn't actually do anything other than waste your time. If you don't believe me, pour a nitro stout in one pour and then let it settle. You'll get the exact same beer unless the nitro system is off and then you might have a bigger head than normal. If you have a Guinness tap wit the right gas at the right pressure, there is no difference. Just something to think about before you get upset with your bartender. You're falling for a marketing gimmick from a multinational brewing conglomerate.
