Awesome style IMO! Gansett abandoned it for some reason? Carton did an awesome job with am Impy. Just picked up Genny Cream. Excellent as well. Especially for $3.50 a six pack. Its a light lager with tons of body and around 5% ABV. I know there's adjuncts but still enjoy the style a lot! MKE Breweing make a good one too.

Plus Medusa makes one I want to try.

I like a genny cream now and again. I don't have much want to search out pricier options. I did have the gansett one and thought it was good but not leaps beyond genny.

Anderson Valley Summer Solstice is a cream ale that I find pretty good and readily available (at least in greater Boston) at this time of year.

Oh, let's get this thread rolling. Any other suggestions?

Genny Cream Ale? What is it? Available in MA?

I did like the Slumbrew Cream Ale (Better Half, maybe?)

The cream ale by Ruebens in Seattle (Ballard to be exact) is awesome. For some reason I always feel embarrassed ordering one. Like when I am drinking wine and I order a Riesling. Haha

By definition, a traditional US "cream ale" was a top-fermented ---- "ale".

Genesee Cream Ale was developed in 1960, long after the original heyday of cream ale in the US (numerous Northeast and New England ale brewers once brewed and marketed true cream ales - including Genesee [see below, their late 1940s label for their ale previously called simply "Light Ale"]) and, supposedly, was originally a blend of their lager and their then-current ale, 12 Horse Ale. They have always been secretive about the recipe and brewing process - since 12 Horse was not commonly available for much of the period of GCA's popularity, it's possible that it is no longer a blend - but I'd be surprised if they consider it a "light lager".

Crap , used to skip school when I was 16-17 to go bass and pike fishing. A warm cardboard case of Genny cream ale pounders always went with. Nobody would have an opener so you'd pop the cap off the side of the case.
Two goats brewery along Seneca Lake in NY has Dirty Butt , half brown ale and half cream ale. I despise brown ales but this one is stellar.

The locals here are sun king sunlight cream ale and Upland champagne velvet. The champagne velvet was a recipe Upland bought from a defunct brewery and revived. Both easy summer drinkers

New Glarus Spotted Cow. The brewery calls it a Wisconsin Farmhouse Ale. New Glarus only distributes in Wisconsin. Too bad, they have some amazing beer!

To this day I don't get why NG only sells in WI. I'm sure they could produce enough to distribute elsewhere. As could RR to sell outside 4-5 cities in CA. Don't think its asking for a miracle by any means. Just spread the love around some more. These breweries could only make more money with expanding their territories IMO

In my opinion, Cream Ales are an under-appreciated style. Genny Cream Ale may be the best cheap beer on the market (as far flavor/$ ratio goes). I can't think of another 'economy' beer that I find as tasty as Genny.

Cream ales are great in warm weather, IMO. Laughing Dog Brewery from Northern Idaho makes a decent cream ale. A local SLC brewery (Desert Edge Brewery) makes a solid seasonal cream ale. It does seem cream ales are underappreciated. I can't think of that many breweries that make them, at least in my home state of UT. Perhaps that is the same across the US? I wouldn't know. As mentioned on this thread, Anderson Valley makes a fine summer cream ale.

While not exactly a Cream Ale, Or Xata by The Bruery is worth a try if you like Cream Ales.

I like Bold City- Killer Whale Cream Ale.. and IDC how poorly it is rated. Also Papago Orange Blossom Wheat Ale out of Arizona reminds me of a great cream ale.

Wasn't The Lion supposed to be bringing back Liebotschaner Cream Ale years ago? What happened with that?
