Hey folks! It's been quite some time (years maybe?) since I've posted on the Germany forum, so as I'm enjoying my coffee and a lazy Saturday morning at my flat in Berlin, I thought I'd take a moment to say "Hello!"

Loving the growing craft beer scene here in Berlin, and looking forward to being a part of it!

As you may know, the first ever Berlin Beer Week is coming up in June, and we're hosting the official "Closing Festival" at our not-yet-open facility here. We're shipping beer over from the US just for the event from 16 highly respected American craft brewers specifically for the event, as well as having an amazing selection of Berlin craft brewers in attendance...and some of our friends from Italy, Slovenia and elsewhere too. Not wanting to get all promotional here, but hey, 100% of the proceeds from the fest goes to local charities so I hope you don't mind if I plug a little.

Anyway, been a BA member for...about forever...and I look forward to getting to know some BAers here in Germany over time.

    Cheers! -Greg.

Never heard of a Czech-style pils brewed with CaraMunich malt. How did that malt contribute to the overall profile?

Honestly, I didn't notice that it had any Munich malt. Interesting. It certainly wasn't a dominating character.

Lots of cool and interesting beers being brewed in Berlin! I can not wait until we join them!

ah, a "czech style" pils thats pretty far from czech style brewed by an american style gypsy craft brewer. Its not a bad beer though i agree. Maybe you should do a little research on the city and try some of the beers?

Can i ask what your beer prices are going to be like in your new "facility" , do you know yet and have any examples?

also, are you planning on brewing any traditional german beers in your new facility?

Research on Berlin and the beers being brewed here? LOL! I'm glad to say that I personally know a great deal (most?) of the brewers in town, and have enjoyed their beers on many multiple occasions over the last five years that I've been coming here. That being said, I definitely am going to reserve the right to go out and have a beer with friends (as I was doing yesterday), and not analyze it or research it, but just enjoy it. ;-]-=

I'm not sure at this point exactly what our prices will be, but we'll have a deep selection of our beers, Berlin craft beers, German, European, American, and other international craft & specialty beers. Prices will be determined by size of pour, and the cost of the beer.

No, we don't plan on brewing any traditional German styles as there are plenty of existing breweries in Germany that do a damn fine job at that (m-a-y-b-e with the possible exception of a BerlinerWeisse perhaps, as there aren't enough breweries currently brewing authentic versions). We're going to focus on the types of beers that best represent our company and brewing style: Stone beers!

do you know stephan from the kindl brewery?

Hey, i always advise relaxing and drinking beers and just enjoying them, dont worry about that

can you suggest a few berlin breweries who are doing a good job of brewing traditional styles? Id like to try them!

On the price point, will your cheapest beer cost more or less than a molle?

I know it's hard to say for sure -- especially in Berlin where projects like the airport are years past due -- but when do you expect to be "joining them?" Any updates on progess you can provide?

Look for brewing in early 2016 and the bistro in Springtime. http://berlin.stonebrewing.com/

just reading some of your marketing stuff there greg, you mention the term "industrial beer" quite a few times, its obviously meant as a put down, can you say what it actually means? I mean, you run a multi national company using modern brewing processes with a healthy marketing budget, why is stone beer not an industrial beer?

I imagine that might mean something different to everyone. To me, it means a brewer that makes industrialized lowest common denominator versions...sorta like as Muzak is to Dizzy Gillespie or Beethoven. It's similar-ish, but different. Way different. It's the version not intended to be 'great' but instead the version made to 'sell volumes.' Whatever. You could slice it a hundred ways I imagine.

Much more importantly, what does "industrial beer" mean to you?

And cheers to that healthy marketing budget of ours! I'm posting on BA on a Sunday...or is it a crack marketing team that's pretending to be me?

Hey, we got a Facebook page, a twitter account (I used to do one myself, but decided to quite...had work to do), and even got an Instagram account. Oh, and some coasters too (I think you may call them 'beer mats'). Impressive!

haha, yeah i think i can translate coaster. hey im not knocking marketing, most businesses have to do it and you're a pretty well marketed business from what i can see, and hey, kudos to you for coming on here, i like that

in answer to your question, industrial beer means nothing to me, nothing at all, a hell of a lot of breweries could be described as industrial these days. I usually prefer to judge whats in the glass rather than who makes it and at the end of the day, if industrialised means i can get good beer for a decent price, not an astronomical "craft" price then im all for it. It could be said that in europe the "craft beer" scene is somewhat industrialised as a concept which is creating more and more identikit american style bars selling the same style of beers

As for beer intended to "sell volumes" im pretty sure you want stone beer to sell volumes or you wouldnt be opening a brewery in europe to get a piece of the growing craft market!

itll be interesting to see how your berlin venture works out, i wish you luck and maybe ill swing by if i can drag myself out of the kneipe

If so, will you be serving it with woodruff and/or raspberry syrup?
